Jeremiah Gyang & the love album

Olamild: We've focused so much on fashion that our viewers (males) have asked that we show mercy by featuring something new in the music sect. I'll have you know that I am very excited to be doing this. I am infact, thrilled to be featuring one of the finest musician to come out of Nigeria. He is none other than Jeremiah Gyang. We'll call him JG for short. I welcome you to Olamild Ent. Jeremiah. Do tell us about yourself

JG: I'm a music art student from Nigeria, passionate about the soul in music.

Olamild: How long have you been in the music industry?

JG: I have been in the industry actively for about 14 years.

Olamild: Was it true that you wrote your first song at the age of 7?

JG: No, I was 6 when I did write it.

Olamild: Impressive! What could have possibly inspired you to do that?

JG: My father was an active ‘music smith’, so he was my primal source of inspiration.

Olamild: I heard Na Ba Ka in 2006 and I’ve been a fan since then. I’ve been singing this song for the past 3 years without knowing how meaningful the lyrics were until I watched the video on youtube. This was just weeks ago. What inspired this song?

JG: I was going through a lot of different things in my life when I wrote that song. Nothing seemed ok. Now I am not religious, neither do I subscribe to it, but I believe in God. I know certain things about Him that have persuaded me to believe in Him. This song is an expression of how I felt when I realized that God prefers my friendship to my fear. He would much rather be my friend than my instructor, though He certainly wants that too. ‘Na Ba Ka’ means ‘I Give You’.

Olamild: Besides music, what do you enjoy doing?

JG: Spending time with me lady, watching movies, and driving.

Olamild: "spending time with the lady." that's really sweet of you to share. I'll have you know in the process of putting my questions together, I asked my friends (fans) if they had any question to ask you. One of them said
"Jeremiah's with Chocolate City and we have seen a lot of music from M.I., Jesse Jagz and others from that camp in recent months. Is there anything to be expected from Jeremiah? Also, are any collabos with other Chocolate City artists and other contemporary artists to be expected? "

JG: I’ve not been with CC since Jan ‘07. I did a song with M.I before I split, and so far there's nothing in the pipeline in that regards.

Olamild: what's the title of the song you did with MI?

JG: Kaunar Allah

Olamild: I have never heard of that but I'll be sure to look it up. So I hear Asa’s with chocolate city

JG: Asa's not with Chocolate City

Olamild: She's not? oh how interesting. I am so glad you cleared that up. I cannot even start to mention the number of sites that say she's with chocolate city. Anyway, you've worked with Asa, tell us about the collaboration with Asa on the comforter’s song

JG: I was working on a song and she happened to be at my studio at the time, so it became a 'myriad of ideas' fiesta, hence the collaboration.

Olamild: What about that song made you title it comforter’s song?

JG: I originally wrote the song about a lady whose name happens to mean 'comforter' when translated to English. That's how the whole thing started.

Olamild: My favorite part about the interviews I do is knowing what's cooking. By that I mean album(s). Tell us about tracks from your most recent album (esp. in love with you, you’re my fire, the only one).

JG: I hope to call this album 'The Love Album'. It's an album that reflects on the love shared by a man and woman couple. This album's lyrics constitute inspiration purely based on my perception of my experiences, and my reaction to the events that played. The 3 songs you mentioned are part of the series of songs that were inspired by the lady in my life.

Olamild: How sweet! She inspired you to write those particular tracks?

JG: She inspired me! It's an emirate of processes, i.e., the time I proposed to her, I wrote 'My Proposition'. A while after she accepted (after forever that is), I wrote 'You're My Fire'. After all this, I went on wreckage, messing her heart and my life up in the process. I wrote other songs I have chosen not to include in this album for some reasons. Now after my moment, I came back crawling. She took me back. She knew I'd be back. She knew I was only new to the kind of life I found myself in. She still believed in me. In a few words, WOW! Now after I realized that she was for real, I wrote 'The Only One', shortly after, 'In Love With You' to express my true state of mind.

Olamild: That is so sweet of you to share. I'm touched. Nothing's sweeter than what you've just shared. Although I am a love fanatic, I'll digress by asking if you will trade your music career for anything?

JG: I will not abandon my music career for nothing is worth it for me! This is my life! I left music several times and when I turned to something else, I always found that the something else is music! I tried to leave and I failed period.

Olamild: What do you hope to achieve in the nearest future?

JG: In the nearest future, I really want to start a family. My heart is really pushing me there. It's not a spontaneous decision; I hardly believe hollywood's ideology. You're probably from naija so you should know what I mean. Wait a minute, tell me about yourself too!

Olamild:[laughs] what do you want to know about me? Uhmm "probably from naija?" I am a certified naija gurl o. Talking about me will take forever besides, today's all about you and your music not me o. I thank you very much for your time. Thank you for all you've shared. I hope to see you do bigger and better things in the music world. I certainly look forward to hearing and seeing you tour the United States. I do hope to feature you again in the nearest future. Lest I forget, I hope to see you become one with the special lady you've talked about with us. Thank you for being with us Jeremiah and thank you readers. CLICK HERE TO HEAR JEREMIAH's MUSIC Ciao

Nice job with the interview, you really touched on some personal stuff. I'm also from Jos, living in MI, but I remember those days when Jeremiah was just coming up. Jeremiah is definately a talented songwriter & producer.
I just realised I have the song "Kaunar Allah" Feat. Sgt Plus produced by M.I dont know if that's the same one he mentioned.
