BEYONCE, MILEY CYRUS, ARIANA GRANDE, KATY PERRY, OTHERS WIN BIG AT MTV VMAs

*As JAY Z and Blue Ivy Present “Michael Jackson Video Vanguard” Award to BEYONCÉ*

*Lagos| Nigeria: *MTV <http://www.mtv.com/> Base hosted an epic night of music with unforgettable performances, unpredictable moments and heartfelt  messages as the 2014 “MTV Video Music Awards” (24 August).

The awards, which held at the Forum, Inglewood in California had *BEYONCÉ *welcome MTV and the audience to earth shattering performances of hits from her visual album “*BEYONCÉ”. *After BEYONCÉ broke Justin Timberlake’s 2013 record for the longest VMA performance ever, JAY Z and Blue Ivy unexpectedly joined her on stage for a highly emotional moment as her  family presented her with the “Michael Jackson Video Vanguard” Award.

Humbled and speaking through tears, *BEYONCÉ* thanked God, her daughter, her “beloved,” MTV and her fans. She also won the most awards of the evening, taking home Moonmen in three different categories, including “Best Collaboration” for “Drunk in Love” and “Best Video With a Message” for
“Pretty Hurts”.

*Miley Cyrus *shocked the world by leaving her twerking ways behind her and delivering a heartfelt message as she took away the “Video of the Year,” award. A former homeless youth in Los Angeles named Jesse took the stage in her place to accept her award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and
homeless youth in the U.S.  From the side of the stage, Miley teared up watching him make a call to action, directing fans to her Facebook page to join the fight to end youth homelessness.  Jesse ended with an emotional quote, “a dream you dream alone is only a dream.  A dream you dream
together is a reality.”

The 2014 “MTV Video Music Awards” opened with the summer’s fiercest female threesome.
rump-shaking performance.

Finally, British singer-songwriter *Jessie J* joined the titillating trio to bring the house down with their smash-hit, “Bang Bang”. Nicki returned with a wardrobe malfunction that left her clutching her dress.

Before introducing “Best Hip-Hop Video”, *Common* asked the VMA audience for a moment of silence to mark the events taking place in Ferguson, Missouri, with some members of the in-house audience responding by spontaneously raising their hands overhead. Introduced by super-fan *Kim Kardashian West*, British singing sensation and first-time VMA performer *Sam Smith* mesmerized the audience - and the Kardashian-Jenner sisters - as he and his band orchestrated a soulful rendition of his powerful hit ballad “Stay with Me”.

Multi-platinum global R&B star *Usher* also delivered a funk-filled performance of his single “Give it to You,” bringing the audience to their feet and surprising everyone when *Nicki Minaj* once again returned to join him onstage during their rhythmically charged set.

Everybody, meet Blue Ivy! Beyonce and Jay-Z post first snaps of their baby girl

The world was anticipating her arrival for weeks and now we have the first snaps of Blue Ivy Carter. And little over a month after she was born proud parents Beyonce and her husband Jay Z have posted snaps of their adorable baby girl. While many celebrities sell their first baby pictures to a glossy magazine the music megastar couple decided to take control posting the first pictures of Blue to a blog.

In one snap the singer is seen smiling into the camera while she cradles her daughter in her arms. While the camera is out of focus on the former Destiny's Child singer, with clarity on baby Blue, Beyonce's blue nails can be seen, no doubt a tribute to her little bundle of joy. The proud parents set up a blog that shows the intimate family snaps along with a message. It read: 'We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in out lives. The Carter Family.'

Beyonce & Jayz welcome a baby girl

The rumour mill has been silenced: Beyoncé actually was pregnant, and the baby was not born last week. Instead, hip-hop power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcomed a baby girl, reportedly named Blue IvyCarter, Saturday night at New York’s Lenox Hill Hospital.

According to E! News, Beyoncé gave birth via scheduled C-section, though many sources noted that Bey’s baby came more than a month before her expected February due date. The New York Daily News notes that Jay-Z and Beyoncé tried to tightly control their babeyoncé’s arrival, rented out an entire floor of Lenox Hill Hospital on New York’s Upper East Side, taping over security cameras and forcing employees to turn in their cell phones.

According to GMA, the couple chose "Ivy" because of the significance of the number "4" or "IV," -- Beyonce and Jay-Z were born on Sept. 4 and Dec. 4, respectively, were married on April 4, 2008, and Beyonce's latest album is entitled 4.) It's the first child for the 30 year old "Love on Top" singer and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter), 42.

Did Beyonce give birth today?

Beyonce and her baby bump are still creating headlines. Reports surfaced which said that Bey was booked in to give birth yesterday or today at a lux NYC hospital but those reports are false.

It was first reported yesterday that Beyoncé may be checking in to have her baby and supposedly two nurses confirmed that there was a special "VIP" guest coming in. Well, it's not Beyoncé. Could it be another very pregnant celeb like Jessica Simpson?

Global Grind called up St. Luke's Roosevelt hospital in NYC and asked if Beyoncé was scheduled to give birth or had booked the labor and delivery suite set aside for VIP's. The rep for the hospital first said they could not confirm if the nurses were on standby and then said "No, Beyoncé is not scheduled to give birth."

Is that just a way to keep people away or is she really not scheduled to go in and have her baby?

It's still a developing story and seeing as Bey is over 9 months pregnant now, it seems very likely she will be giving birth any day now but the question is where will she decide to have her baby?

A very pregnant Beyoncé

Superstar Beyoncé Knowles is pregnant. The 1+1 singer announced the news to reporters at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, which took place in Los Angeles. The 29-year-old told them she “had a surprise for you” and with that she showed off her baby bump. Ahead of her performance, she said “I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me,” and with that she blew audiences away with yet another outstanding performance.

This while her hubby Jay-Z, who was clearly delighted, was congratulated by Kanye West. It’s not known how far along she is, but judging by the baby bump, it’s safe to assume she’s past the first trimester. More on baby ‘BeyonJay’ to follow in the months to come.

A Day After Fela Inspired Beyoncé Scoops Billboard Millenium Award, Ladybrille Releases MI2 UK Launch Exclusive Interview

A day after Beyoncé, who cites Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer, Fela, as her inspiration for her latest album “4,” received The Billboard Millennium Award at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, Ladybrille Magazine releases Ladybrille-MI2 The Movie UK Launch Exclusive Interview.

“I recorded more than 60 songs: everything I ever wanted to try, I just did it. I started off being inspired by Fela Kuti. I actually worked with the band from Fela! (the Broadway musical based on his life) for a couple of days … what I learned most from Fela was artistic freedom: he just felt spirit,” said Beyoncé in an interview to Billboard Magazine.

“It is highly significant that a world music influencer like Beyoncé who wins such a significant award cites Fela as her key inspiration in her latest body of work,” said Uduak Oduok, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Ladybrille Magazine. “This speaks to the powerful influence of Nigerian music and musicians,” continued Oduok.

“Our latest release of the Ladybrille-MI2 The Movie UK Launch Exclusive Interview, a day after the Billboard Awards, is to underscore this point and encourage the new generation of Nigerian and African musicians to work hard to leave the kind of legacy that Fela left for the world. We are very proud to have identified and introduced M.I, exclusively, to the Western masses and hope he is part of inspiring the future generations of Beyonces.”

Signed to Chocolate City music label in Nigeria, Jude Abaga aka Mr. Incredible aka M.I made his official debut, in Nigeria, with his Freshman Album ‘Talk About It,’ which was released on December 11th, 2008. In 2009, Ladybrille Magazine introduced M.I, in an exclusive, on the cover of its February issue, as a future rising star to watch to its Western influential readership. Since then, M.I has gone on to win over 14 Awards including Best Hip-hop and Best New Act at the 2009 MTV MAMA Awards. The rising global African music star has also been nominated nineteen (19) times, since 2009, for numerous awards including his nomination, last year, at the 2010 BET Awards.

Hosted by Ladybrille’s Maria Okanrende, The Ladybrille Magazine MI2 The Movie UK Launch Exclusive Interview features a one-on-one with the rap star on his UK launch event, his career and rising exposure in the US market; including his appearance on the Wendy Williams Show and his nomination at the 2010 BET Awards, and his hope to win a Grammy for his country and for Africa, among many topics.

2face Idibia, Fally Ipupa, Teargas, D'banj & others nominated for the 2011 BET Awards

Nominees have been announced for the 2011 BET Awards! From Nicki to RiRi to Young B, Weezy to Breezy to Yeezy—they're all here, and more. Look at the 2011 BET Awards, all star-studded!

Watch for a glittering awards ceremony scheduled

to air live from LA on the BET cable channel on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 8 p.m. ET. This year's award will be hosted by ace comedian Kevin Hart. The producers have left no stone unturned to make this year's award night one to remember; the best international act category as opposed to the previous years was split into two sections: one for UK and the other for Africa. Smart move by BET! Last year's result was a bit devastating because many people assumed P Square was going to win based off the vote on BET's website. This year leaves Africa a better chance to take home the award.

Check out the 2011 nominees for the BET Awards.

African fabric worn by American celebs

African fashion appears to be making an exceptional leap to mainstream fashion this year. Although the New York Times attributes this latest interest in African fashion to the seductive sounds and movements of the Broadway hit, “Fela,” we believe Ankara spoke for herself - it's a fabric with a voice.

Everyday, we wake up to the African fabric getting celeb treatment.

Style icon Gwen Stefani rocked her own runway yesterday as she showed off her new collection for her clothing line L.A.M.B.

The 40 year old singer/designer who loves mixing different patterns and fabrics together is undoubtedly in love with the Ankara fabric. She unveiled her fashion label’s collection at the L.A.M.B. Spring 2011 runway show for New York Fashion Week.

Bright splashes of color, lovely flowers, vibrant green plaids sums it all up.
