J Levi, whose real name is Tosin Obileye, is a singer, rapper, song-writer & performer. He practically conveys his message in the best possible way, depending on the mood he’s in
when writing a song, making him an extremely versatile artist.
Jay’s journey goes as far back as 1999 when he was given the lead role in the children’s choir, in-front of a large audience at the RCCG Dominion Sanctuary, Acme, Ikeja, Lagos. He has since co-written & voiced songs for a number of circular & gospel artists around him, before deciding to take his talent serious.
Between 2009 to 2011 he performed in front of audiences around the UK, wooing them with his unique voice and the warmth created in the atmosphere when he performs. On the first of January 2011 he released his first track titled ‘A New Man’ which was well received and the wealth and emotions buried in the lyrics of the song impressed a lot of its listeners.
He’s music is influenced by a wide range of artists from around the world, such as; Lagbaja, Fela, Yinka Ayefele, the late Pope, Asa, Nneka, Kanye West, Drake, Usher, Wande Coal, Naeto C & Mali music, to name a few. All these different sounds contribute to the creativity expressed when J Levi makes his music.
Now signed to Wazmusic & The Wazmusic Group, of which he is also a co-owner, with the likes of the sensational singer & producer Kru & the upcoming rapper Crysis. He has just released his brand new single “Lovestruck,” which premiered on the JB Cube at 12am on the second of January 2012. Lovestruck proves that he is definitely an artist to look out for this year.
J Levi is currently studying psychology at the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom.
