KCEE, ICE PRINCE, MI, SEYI SHAY, OTHERS TALK ABOUT YAW'S THE STREET

With only a few days left to the most anticipated stage play of the year hosted by top Wazobia FM OAP, Yaw the media space is still abuzz with conversations about #TheStreet.

The annual live play set to hold on at Eko Hotel on Sunday, March 30, 2014 is the 6th edition of the Yaw Live On Stage series.

According to Yaw, the two-man stage play featuring himself and top-notch comedian, Julius Agwu is a satirical piece portraying major events in Nigeria from January 2013 to February 2014. “We have infused comedy and dance into the stage play to deliver a totally mind blowing package”, Yaw adds.

The Street is not about comedy alone, the event will be juiced with exciting performances by top Nigerian celebrities including Kcee, Ice Prince, Timi Dakolo, Seyi Shay amongst others.

KCEE’s “PULL OVER” MAKES NUMBER ONE ON MTV BASE’s OFFICIAL NAIJA TOP TEN

This week, Kcee leads the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 Powered by Star Music.  “Pull Over” kicks D’Banj’s “Finally” off the top slot in the definitive Naija music video chart after jumping four places from last week’s number 5.

Bella Naija’s Onos Ovueraye will join MTV BaseVJ, Ehiz in the studio this week to discuss this week’s chart toppers as well as the hottest acts in the Nigerian music scene.

Sitting pretty at number 2 is Davido with “Skelewu” - up one place from last week, whileWizkid makes a leap from 7^th place last week to number 4 thanks to monster hit, “Jaiye Jaiye”.

Fans will also see five new entries storming the charts: Olamide’s “Turn Up” enters the chart at number 4, closely followed by Burna Boy with “Yawa Dey” at number 5. Mr 2Kay makes his Official Naija Top 10 debut with “Bubugaga Remix” at number 7 while DJ Xclusive occupies the number 9 slot with “Pangolo”; Skuki’s “Silifa”rounds up the chart at number 10.

Star Music Trek 2013 kicks off in Lagos with Psquare, M.I, Ice Prince, Sound Sultan, KCee, Others

Apparently, the Lagos leg of Star Music Trek 2013 promises to be a blast as superstar entertainers Psquare, M.I, Ice Prince, Sound Sultan, and KC will open up the 1^st phase of the annual concert in front of thousands of eager fans.

This Saturday’s concert will officially kick off the highly anticipated yearly music tour.

Thousands of music fans will gather at Jite Open Field, Road 21, Festac, Lagos on June 8, 2013 for a night of blazing music and electrifying performances.

Other artistes expected to perform at the event include popular hip-hop artiste, Kas and Crystals, winners of Star Quest 2012, Nigerian Breweries premier reality show.

“I’m way too excited to say much right now, but this I can promise: music fans are in for an amazing time with me and other incredible artistes in Lagos on June 8^th at Star Music Trek 2013.” M.I assures.

“PSquare promises to rock this concert like never before….fans should come expecting only the best- they won’t be disappointed, the exciting pop duo’s manager, Jude Okoye assures.”

The 2013 line up of artistes were revealed in an exclusive press conference  which held at Rhapsody’s Lounge, Victoria Island, Lagos on May 22 2013.

Star Music Trek will still happen in nine other cities including Aba, Abeokuta, Agege (-Lagos), Asaba, Enugu, Lokoja, Nnewi, Owerri, and Onikan V.I (Lagos).

Other superstars to perform at this year’s edition of the pan Nigerian concert include 2face, D’banj, Timaya, Wande Coal, Obesere, Mr Raw, Dr Sid, JMartins, Naeto C, Tiwa Savage, Sheyi Shey, Phyno, Olamide, Juke Box, Da Beatz and Crystals.

The compere for the event is Gbenga Adeyinka, one of Nigeria’s favorite comedians and a compere of repute.

The Star Music Trek tour will run for 10 weeks, in 10 cities, culminating in a grand finale at Onikan Stadium, in Lagos on August 10 2013.

KCEE BREAKS THE SILENCE

Kingsley Okonkwo popularly known as KC from the famous group KC Presh finally speaks up on speculated rumors that have been circulating in the entertainment industry in the last couple of weeks.

In a statement issued through his publicity firm, Verbana Servicing Outfit. KCEE confirms that the duo have split to pursue solo careers after 12 years of performing in a group. It was a mutual decision taken by the group to show their fans their individual genre of music. This is not the first time this has been done in the entertainment industry, Outcast decided to record solo songs at some point in their career.

KCEE who came in to the limelight in 2000, via a gold circle condom nationwide tour, which saw the likes of Plantation Boiz, The Remedies, Basket Mouth and Julius Agwu, who was actually responsible for introducing the group to the management of Gold circle condom.

What a lot people don’t know, says KCEE, is that Idris Abdulkareem was the one, who asked me to register for Star quest, after he saw the performance and the response of the audience during the nationwide tour.

In 2002 Idris advice paid off as they won star quest, a competition which was star studded, with ASA, Nigaa Raw, Zule Zoo, The natives, Medina, Samsong, Klint Da Drunk, all veterans who have or are still making a mark in the entertainment scene.

Winning the competition was the platform which helped the group, says KCEE, and gradually established us as a household brand, and led to them gracing the stage with international artistes such as 50cent, Jarule, Tpain, Shaggy, R Kelly, Busta Rhymes, Nelly, NAS, Kanye West, Koffi Olumide, Kirk Franklin, fat joe, Akon , and performing at the Triangle of peace in Dubai with Nelson Mandela in attendance, The Ruler of dubia and also the president of world bank

The fact that the duo have decided to go solo after 12 years doesn’t mean that there aren’t friends, as they live in the same neighborhood, and worked as closely as brothers.

KCEE embarks on his solo career in grand style as he offers a rebranded package to his fans with his genre of music, stage name and his dress sense, doing away with the bling that was associated with the segemenge crooner. I want to be taken seriously, as I intend to make an impact in the industry and turn around the perception of entertainers in Nigeria says KCEE, as he jokingly interjects that he is now on twitter @KceeO, an avenue which he claims will be an expression of his thoughts.

KCEE, has also released his first single as a solo artiste, a song titled OKPEKETE, which is a fusion of highlife, hip hop, dance hall and the proverbial unique genre that he is known for, which tells us what to expect from the album. He also features a couple of notable artiste’s in the entertainment industry and is currently in the studio working with the best producers to wrap up the final details of the album.

OKPEKETE shows the versatility of KCEE as he experiments with beats, new sounds, song themes, concepts and still maintains that distinctive element that can only be attributed to the former segemenge crooner.
