Echoes from Sammie Okposo’s Out of Africa UK Tour + Exclusive photos

For all the lovers of Delta State born multiple awards winning artiste, Globacom Ambassador and United Nations Ambassador for World Peace, Sammie Okposo, what you are about to read is a cheering news.

Three weeks after commencing his annual Out of Africa UK tour, feelers reaching us revealed that one of Nigeria’s most successful music ministers is having the best of times in London. The tour has been described as an invasion, amazingly by a gospel artiste from Nigeria.

Okposo left the shores of the country on October 14 with his full band, D-X Generation to London for his annual Out of Africa UK tour. Speaking to one of the Out of Africa team from London, he said the tour has been going on well. “So far, we have done half of the tour. Aside performing at Black History Festival in Birmingham and Festival of Life at Excel Center, some of the venues of the shows we have done are Croydon Terbanacle, KICC Romford, KICC Wathamstow, Trinity Chapel Discovery Center Barking, RCCG Pathfinder Parish in Manchester, Gate Academy Grays and few others. We hope to find time to rest when we return to Nigeria”.

Speaking concerning the tour before he left Nigeria, Okposo said Out of Africa UK is an annual tour and he won’t be fair to his fans in UK if he fails to take Out of Africa tour to UK this year. “We already have a loyal fan base in the UK as a result of our commitment to playing good music and they look forward to Out of Africa tour every year to interact with us and have a feel of the music live”.

Before he left for the tour, Okposo released two new singles off his international album to be released by American based TMG Records anytime from now.

ALBUM REVIEW ARTISE | PAUL ADEFARASIN AND THE CHOSEN TREASURE

ALBUM TITLE- I STILL BELIEVE
LABEL- HOUSE ON THE ROCK MEDIA

{Featured artistes: Chevelle Franklyn, Segun Obe, Timi Dakolo, Sammie Okposo, Mike Aremu, Niki Laoye, Mandy Brown, Praise Adejo, Eric Arubayi, Onos Ariyo}

I still Believe album is definitely an album for every believer who understands the true meaning of true worship to buy and keep. The album marks the eight years existence of The Chosen Treasure choir of The House on The Rock Church which at a point had all the listed featured artistes as members of the choir except Chevelle Frankyn. The16 tracker innovative and thought-provoking album proves to be well worth the wait.

One of the beauties of this album is the use of live instruments that caught the attention of every first listener. The unique vocal arrangements make this project a great addition to your collection. It also has catchy phrases and infectious baselines which reveal the ingenious creativity of great producers that worked on the album. The vibe is smooth and gives a distinctive edge in the holy hip hop arena.

On ‘Fight’, International gospel artiste, Chevelle Frankln added her awesome vocal stylistics to the song. She stays true to her style and sound, but also brings freshness to the project, with her transparency and passion truly shining through. The song urges the Christians to fight on with everything they have because the devil is always on their trail. Another important factor that will catch your attention on this track is Pastor Paul Aderasin’s interludes. The velvety voice oozing out from the speaker might be mistaken as the voice of God encouraging his children to match on no matter what.

This project will definitely satisfy existing fans while creating a platform for a new audience. ’Champion’ is another track on the album that explains the victory of Christians through Jesus Christ. The track which was written Darasen Richards with another interlude by Pastor Paul Adefarasin is a great motivational song, and nothing could have been more motivating and soul gripping than the delivery of Timi Dakolo on the track. His skills will definitely warrant repeated spins on your CD player. Timi simply killed the song!

Be sure to check out ‘I Still Believe’ written by Sammie Okposo and Gloreeyah Braimah with the infectious vocal delivery of Remi Odumesi. It emphasizes the need to praise God at all times with an unshaken heart. ‘Change’ is another inspiring song which advises listeners to embrace change if it's the right type of change. Other great songs on the album are Revive Us, Get Ready, God of My Praise, Stumbled, God Is In The Rain andYou Won’t Be Forgotten.

Though there are a number of collaborations on this project, it is the strength of the album flow that will keep this one on your top 10 playlist. Without question, I Still Believe album marks a new beginning for Chosen Treasure and Pastor Paul Adefarasin. Though there's a new sound and a new label, it's that same Gospel album creativity and lyrical flow that we've come to know and love.

Frontline gospel artiste and United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace, Sammie Okposo left the country on Wednesday August 10 to the United States of America to finalize his new album release plans with his American label, TMG (TATE Music Group) Records where he is surprisingly the first black artiste in the history of the label.

In another development, Sammie Okposo and Daddy Showkey, both indigenes of Delta States are currently finalizing a project with the Ministry of Youth Development in Delta State on how to help develop the talented youths scattered all over the state who doesn’t even have a clue of what the future hold for them. This they believe will further help to reduce crimes in the state as youths will be channeling their efforts towards more productive ventures.

Aberdeen Court Cleared Sammie Okposo of Making Racist Remarks

African leading gospel star and United Nations Youth Ambassador for World Peace, Sammie Okposo has been cleared of making racist comments in an Aberdeen Restaurant during his honeymoon last year. Okposo was discharged and acquitted of all charges on April 8, 2011 at exactly 11.30am (U.K time) by the presiding judge in Aberdeen court. The judge said all evidences brought against him are insufficient, incoherent and baseless.

The most surprising aspect of the court proceedings was that Okposo wasn’t called upon at any time by the judge to step into the witness box. The judge pronounced his judgement after Okposo’s lawyer, Ms Val Bremmer from Mackie and Dewar Solicitors cross examined the manager and the assistant manager of Jimmy Chung Restaurant and discovered that their testimonies were incoherent.

The statements of both the manager and the assistant manager of the restaurant at the court room were different from their previous statements made last year. The same restaurant manager that accused Sammie Okposo of being violent lost his temper in the court during the cross examination by the defence counsel. He was however cautioned by the judge.

Speaking on his victory over the court case when he returned to Lagos, Nigeria, Okposo said God has vindicated him. “The bible says no weapon formed against me shall prosper and every tongue that rises up against me in judgement He shall condemn. How can two people who have been working together in court for ten years confuse themselves in court? I give God all the glory that I have been vindicated and my name was not soiled”.

This is the first time Okposo will ever be involved in a court case over the past two decades that he has been travelling round the world for musical concerts and other engagements.

Okposo was alleged to have caused alarm or distress to Ronny Shui Hung Yung by shouting, swearing and uttering racial remarks at the Aberdeen restaurant last year during his honeymoon. He was also accused of acting in a racially aggravated manner by Scottish Evening Express. Against the ethics of journalism, the paper published the story based on the reports of the restaurant’s manager, whose unprofessional conduct has greatly been criticized, without listening to the other party and the eye witnesses.

The eye witness accounts said the singer with his wife and another couple arrived at the restaurant at exactly 4.30pm in the evening but were not aware that lunchtime ends by 5pm. This led to an argument while the attendant was trying to hurry them out of the restaurant. Witnesses said they questioned the attendant why she had not informed them when they arrived, saying they would probably have waited till 5pm before settling down in the restaurant. An argument later ensued between Sammie Okposo and the manager of the restaurant identified as Mr Ronny Shui Hung Yung over their poor customer service and for harassing his wife urging him to get another job if he is tired of running the restuarant. The manager later called the police that a racist statement had been made against him and when the police reportedly arrived at the scene 30mins after, they arrested Sammie Okposo without any interrogation.

Sammie Okposo’s lawyer in Nigeria, Valentine Emeka Utulu of Johnson Bryant immediately raised a case of personal harassment and aggravation against the restaurant management and the violation of his human rights by the Aberdeen police. The lawyer petitioned the First Minister of Scotland (Minister of Justice) over the unlawful arrest of Okposo. The lawyer copied so many influential individuals like the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, The Queen of England, The Prime Minister of Great Britain, The Secretary General of The United Nations, The Nigerian Ambassador to The United Kingdom, The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, The Solicitor to The Advocate General of Scotland and The Chairman Federal House of Representatives Committee on Nigerians in the Diaspora.

Na only you - Sammie Okposo

Wave-making gospel singer Sammie Okposo took the Nigerian gospel music to another level in 2000, when he released “Welu-Welu”, which till date is still reverberating within and outside our shores. He needs little or no intro; earlier in the year, he tied the knot with sweet heart - Ozioma Mkparu.

He performed two days ago at the 2010 experience alongside Don Moen, Panam Percy Paul, Papa San, Phil Driscoll, Mary Mary, Micah Stampley, Judy Jacobs, Mike Aremu, Israel Houghton, Fred Hammond, Chevelle Franklyn and Ron Kenoly.

When asked what keeps him going in life, he said "My environment and the fact that you can’t predict the music scene keeps me going. I can’t relax, I keep working. The strength from God is the greatest thing that keeps me going. He inspires me daily." Click play to listen to Na only you

Sammie Okposo can kiss o!!

It's no news that Nigeria's favorite gospel pioneer said 'I do' this month. Sammie Okposo quit bachelorhood and married the love of his life, Ozioma Nwanne Mkparu on the 1st of July at the Lagoon Restaurant and Banquet hall. The wedding was attended by many celebrities and well wishers.

People tend to shy away from kissing or rush it even on their wedding day. That is not the case of Sammie and Ozioma. According to those that attended the wedding, the couples shocked the audience when the pastor said 'you may kiss the bride.' We're told the couple locked lips for the longest time, this is rather uncommon especially in a Nigerian setting.

Pictures don't lie though, see for yourself. For all those that need Kissing 101 lesson, stare at the picture and practice before you wed (lol). If you think you can beat Sammie, send your picture to us. Isn't the bride gorgeous?? Congratulations to the newlyweds!!
