On Saturday, 16th July, 2011, the new high priest of Nigerian youth culture in conjunction with premier music label Chocolate City will unleash its latest brainwave: #Hashtag, the first ever YNaija party. It’s clear that no social networking site has rocked our world quite like Twitter. Beyond the relentless exchange of information and web links, the interesting 140-character messages – the witty tweets and retweets we indulge in – have made Twitter such a hit within a short time.
YNaija has constantly stayed ahead of its contemporaries, creating trends and concepts built around Twitter. We pioneered the Twitter Roundup that’s now a firm favourite, and we held an online version of our Twitter Awards last year, with plans for a bigger event this year. We also created the Twitter Personality series, and between April and June we’ve profiled more than 25 top Twitter personalities. These include real life celebrities and those who have made their name on the social network, and they all let us into their individual experiences on Twitter.
