IBK SPACESHIPBOI MAKES AD MUSIC FOR THE 2019 GRAMMY AWARDS SHOW

The Grammys has been known to celebrate artistic excellence in the music industry, so its ad campaigns often depict the recording academy’s eccentric taste in music, coupled with its knack for something out of the ordinary. In anticipation of its 61^st awards show, the recording academy released a #LetsHearIt ad on its Instagram account on Friday, Dec 7, 2018. 

The 27 seconds ad featured music from none other than Nigeria’s own IBK Spaceshipboi. IBK Spaceshipboi, who is as renowned for his career as an artist as he is for his work as a producer, made history as the first Nigerian to make music for a Grammy ad.

Earlier today, IBK Spaceshipboi reposted the ad video and shared the good news via Instagram. He wrote: “Music by: IBK SPACESHIPBOI. 🙌🏽🙌🙌🏿🙌🏼   I remember my first time pushing the "on" button to watch American television. I am a sucker for commercials so I watched the ads religiously so much so that my girlfriend at the time would yell from the living room "they are showing your commercials oh!". I told myself "1 day, you will create music that will be on one of these commercials". So I started paying attention to the genres of music that thrived in that industry and became inspired to create 6 pieces at the time. Fast forward 2 years later, I get a call from the awesome team at Sostereo saying the Grammy's would love to use 1 of my pieces for the 2019 commercial and would love if you could spruce it up a bit. So spruce it I did 😁 and the rest is good history. From thought to reality, my music now plays on a Grammy commercial on American television. This Warri boy from Nigeria; God writes the story, we just act it out.

He also made history when he created the music content for the BET CYPHER featuring Nigeria rap acts at the BET HIP-HOP AWARDS 2011. He has lived up to the Spaceshipboi name, consistently crafting something out of space. It’s no wonder that his craft is Grammy ad worthy. I come bearing good news and I am excited to share this wonderful information on my new project with you all.

I am working on an idea that would help redirect our perception of what should be the norm in our world through one of the world's most powerful tool (MUSIC)

This Project is called
(WorldRadio by Spaceshipboi)
and it is scheduled for release on the fall of 2017.

The aim of this project is to bring to you the fans, different sounds and good vibes from different parts of the world and also showing the life and good energy of the different countries I am going to feature on this project.

The first single off this project is called #Padeya. I started recording in The United states and went off to Colombia to finish the piece with my good friends Fabian Sanchez and Daniel Demendoza of the @1beatmusic 2015 alumni as well as other local musicians in colombia.

PADEYA is a happy record schedule for release on the 24th of June 2016.
It will be available on itunes and other digital media stores.

The music on the WorldRadio by Spaceshipboi project is done with the intent to make you feel good and inspire you to look at the positives in our world and appreciate it. Introducing the OneBeat 2015 Fellows!

These 25 boundary-breaking fellows from 17 different countries and territories  -- including Russia, Cuba, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Venezuela, Nigeria and the U.S. -- bring singular and compelling stories, and range from experimental producers to deeply-rooted traditional virtuosi to indie rockers and more.

This year’s fellows include: Ng Chor Guan, an accomplished sound designer, composer and environmentalist from Kuala Lampur, Malaysia; Jorge Peña AKA GreenCh, a producer on the forefront of Cuba’s experimental electronic music scene; Dragana Tomić, a traditional Balkan vocalist and ethnomusicologist from Belgrade, Serbia, who is one of Serbia’s first professional female kaval players; Vieux Cissokho, a Senegalese Griot musician specializing in the kora; and Katherine Suavita Niño (aka. La Real Esa), a circus performer and cumbia accordionist from Bogotá, Colombia who works with communities affected by violence. Meet all 2015 fellows here.

Tour Route & Performances

OneBeat 2015 will return to Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, CA for a two-week residency. The residency will be followed by a two-week tour that includes stops at Caldera Arts in central Oregon and venues in Portland, OR before culminating in Seattle, WAfor an unprecedented collaboration with the City of Seattle’s Office of Film + Music and Office of Arts & Culture to celebrate the city’s revolutionary music culture.

At each location, OneBeat fellows will present audiences with a dynamic series of public performances, artistic innovations, and educational events. People of all ages and backgrounds have the rare opportunity to experience live what it sounds like when adventurous musicians from different parts of the world combine forces, and learn first-hand about the process of cross-cultural dialogue and creative collaboration.

IBK Spaceshipboi is set to drop his official single for the year. This one is titled LOVERS DANCE.  It is a feel good dance record that is sure to take centre stage as this year's summer's anthem. It is also the theme song for the (TRUE LOVE IS 1Cor13:4-7) campaign powered by IBK Spaceshipboi to remind us all that Love is all we need to make our world a better place (True love is what the children will see; true love is what the society will become).

Lovers Dance is scheduled for a July 1 release and would be readily available on digital media stores for purchase. "Malaria No More" is a nonprofit organization that aims to end death caused by malaria in Africa by 2015. Malaria No More aims to achieve this by engaging global leaders, rallying the public, delivering life-saving tools and education to families across Africa. In April 2014, Malaria No More through the Federal Ministry of Health, National Malaria Elimination Programme and its partners launched the national malaria awareness campaign; 'A Malaria-Free Nigeria: Play your part!' with the objective of reducing malaria deaths by 50% by 2015 in Nigeria.

To date, celebrities that have supported the campaign by recording life saving malaria messages include; Femi Kuti, Stephen Keshi, Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Vincent Enyeama, Chioma Akpotha to mention but a few. Part of the campaign has a malaria anthem with Bez, Waje, Eva and Falz lending their voices with educative malaria messages in a catchy and upbeat tune.
