Sound Sultan, M.I Abaga, Julius Agwu & Others Redefine Peace At The #RSVP Abuja Peace Concert

Sound Sultan, MI, Julius Agwu and others gave the word “Peace” a whole new meaning as they thrilled patriotic Nigerians with electrifying performances at the RSVP Abuja Peace Concert organized by the Advocacy group, Enough Is Enough Nigeria (EiE Nigeria) which held yesterday, the 26th of March 2015 at the Ladi Kwali Conference Centre, Sheraton, Abuja.
The very well attended concert brought together the popular entertainers as well as up and coming performers such as DNA Twins, LK Kuddy, Krump Dance Studios, Ceaser, Debby Veren, Othmanbee, Spell, Distrikt Matters, Spotlight and many others with the aim of encouraging Nigerians to join the decision process in the coming elections by voting peacefully.

The event which was open to everyone with free entrance to everyone with a PVC, is one of the many activities organized by the group as part of its RSVP Campaign to stir up the need for youths to Register, Select, Vote and Protect their votes (RSVP) in the forth coming presidential and gubernatorial elections.

Speaking at the event, the Nigeria Director of Osiwa, funders of the #RSVP Concerts, Jude Ilo, explained how pertinent it is for every citizen of voting age to join the decision process tomorrow as that’s the only voice we have to decide who leads the country to the better place we crave.
“No one should allow themselves be used by politicians to shed blood or vandalize properties. That speaks very low of the leaders of tomorrow we are preparing ourselves to be. Besides if you give your soul because of any Politician, when you are gone, their life continues like nothing happened. Please beware Nigerians... Let’s Vote, Not Fight”, he adds.
Other highlights of the events were Mobile phones and Laptop giveaways among others.
Up and coming artiste, Spotlight, winner of the laptop giveaway, was overwhelmed as it came to him as a total surprise “ I had no idea they will be giving out laptops or mobile phones. I only came here to do what I do best and amazingly, everyone fell in love with my performance and started screaming they should give me the laptop. This is the Nigeria we really need where we appreciate a fellow’s efforts and not tear down. Very grateful to the organizers for this”, he said.

The RSVP Concert tour, which already held in various cities across the nation - Lagos, Jos, Kaduna, Owerri & Port-Harcourt - is a voter education and youth mobilization initiative of EiE Nigeria, a non-partisan coalition of individuals and organizations committed to instituting a culture of good governance and public accountability in Nigeria.
MI, one of EiE's RSVP Ambassadors and a headliner in 3 of the 6 cities said, "It is important to engage as many young people as possible in the governance process and whenever I can lend my voice and my time, I'm glad to support EiE's work."

EiE believes that if Nigerians engage actively around the message of the RSVP, the quality of governance in Nigeria will improve.

FUNKE AKINDELE OLOYEDE & AY THE COMEDIAN TALK ABOUT HOSTING THE 2012 NIGERIAN ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS

About two weeks ago the organizers of the Nigerian Entertainment Awards announced the hosts for this year’s awards as the wonderful Queen of Nollywood comedy Funke Akindele Oloyede aka Jenifa, and the funny man AY the comedian. The comedy duo is sure to bring their A-game to the 7th annual NEA Awards, scheduled to take place in New York City on Sept 2, 2012.

This will be the second time hosting the NEA Awards for actress Funke Akindele, as she hosted last year alongside Julius D’ Genius Agwu and brought the house down with her jokes, and infectious personality. So it is not surprising that she will be returning again this year to host with AY the comedian.

When asked how she felt about returning as host for a second time, she had this to say, “I'm happy to be hosting the NEA Awards for the second time running. Initially wasn't sure what to expect last year, but I had a great time and a wonderful experience, meeting with the fans, the great performances and the opportunity to be a part of a great event like the NEAs. The organizers put in a lot of work, and I'm happy to support them and to return as host this year.”
As for the US fans of the popular comedian, AY who are excited at the opportunity to meet with him and watch him at the NEAs, he is just as excited and is looking forward to the entire NEA weekend.  When asked about how he felt about hosting the 7th annual NEA Awards, the comedian had the following things to say:

How excited are you to be hosting this year's NEA Awards?

AY: I am quite excited to have been chosen as one of the host for NEA, and I am even more excited to be hosting the award alongside Funke Akindele who is a creative partner in the entertainment industry. It’s been a long time coming for the AY brand, and I see it as an opportunity to relate closely with lovers of the brand who has been yearning for me to come to the US

What should your fans in the US be looking forward to/expecting from you?

AY: I personally can't ask fans to expect the best. But they should come into the event with different expectations which I believe would give birth to the unexpected. At the end of the night I am sure an instant review of our collective performance would be most satisfactory

What do you want to tell people who still haven't bought their tickets?

AY: The best I can say is that the number 7 is a unique number for NEA as it represents its 7th year. So the combination of AY, Funke Akindele and the different talented human resources coming together in New York to celebrate our entertainment export materials will be an international carnival experience. What else can I say? But to ask fans to go out there and grab their tickets before we sell out.

What do you think about the NEA Awards and how far it has come in 7years?

AY: NEA is one award that has printed its name on the sand of time. It’s not easy to organize an award of such magnitude within Nigeria, not to talk of doing it on any international platform. I see it becoming a major link for our Nigerian Talents cutting their teeth in the international market.
