Introducing Mayorteeshay

Mayowa Alatishe, an Ogun state indigene, was born on February 23rd 1988 in Lagos, the entertainment capital of Nigeria.

Mayor Teeshay started his musical adventure at a very young age after he stumbled on his father’s collection of the late Gil-Scott Heron, an American spoken world performer popular for his acclaimed composition- “The Revolution Will Not be Televised.”

With music firmly ingrained in his DNA, Mayor’s versatility became evident when he started a church dance group called Sould’out for Christ. Experimenting with all genres of music from rock to rap, Hip-Hop finally hit home after legends like Tupac, Biggie, Bonethugs and Eminem stole his heart away. However, it was not until he copped Drake’s ‘Thank Me Later’ that realization hit him that he could pave his own career part in the rap industry.

Mayor’s throwback rap style reminiscent of Nas in the old days belies a deep-thinker who weaves rap bars just as he designs and codes programs. In his professional life, he is an accomplished freelance programmer with a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Lagos.

He is currently working on his highly anticipated mixtape called The Maymix which is set to drop anytime soon. The mixtape’s philosophy is centred on Mayor’s indepth knowledge of music, using old beats and creating his own version, his own song, and his own music. First two singles off the mixtape are Mayor’s Like (Sampling Nas is Like) and Look at me now (Sampling Chris Brown) featuring label mate Sammy and Knighthouse’s Phenom. Other artistes billed to feature on the mixtape are Kel, Nyore,Seriki,Tupengo and others.

Mayor Teeshay is currently signed under Bit Bender Entertainment; a label he believes would give him room to grow artistically and as a person.
