Asake Agoro will showcase her newest collection of AsakeOge Couture at Africa Fashion Week New York produced by Adirée on Friday July, 15th. AFWNY will take place July 14th, 15th, and 16th in the Broad Street Ballroom in NYC’s financial district. AsakeOge Couture is a ready to wear collection that features designs in bold prints and tailored silhouettes. Asake Agoro draws inspiration from her African background and the ethnic influences are apparent in her designs.

This paradox makes AsakeOge Couture unique”– Adiat Disu, Director of AFWNY. Agogo’s collection has featured wild animal prints—a trend set for summer 2011. Reality show star and fashion conscience Kim Kardashian embraces wild animal prints and has recently been spotted wearing a leopard print jumper while shopping in New York City. Agoro incorporates jewel embellishments, and colorful African graphics.
AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designer Korto Momolu and designers like Washington Roberts, Saint Wobil, AAMAA Couture, Bill Witherspoon and others will showcase. Asake Agoro founded AsakeOge Couture in February 2009. Agoro comes from 3rd generations of seamstress. At 15 years old, Agoro was designing garments for herself. Agoro was also nominated and won the Best Female Fashion Designer for the BEFFTA Awards 2010.
