On Monday, January 30, 2012 MTV VJ and her husband Ozoemena Mbanefo welcomed

their first child at EmoryMidtown hospital Atlanta.

Lincon Munachiso Mbanefo came into the world at exactly 7.55am, and several celeb friends took to their BBM status and twitter accounts to congratulate the young couple thereby making a spontaneous announcement. Cynthia exchanged vows with Ozoemena Mbanefo on October 23, 2010 at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. Cynthia remains MTV’s only Nigerian VJ; the 26-year old computer science graduate from Ebonyi State University first came to public attention after winning a nationwide MTV VJ Search in November 2007.

Cynthia Mbanefo currently combines her MTV duties with high profile gigs as a radio DJ and actress, with her own radio show syndicated on 40 radio stations across Nigeria; she also stars in the MNET TV series 'Tinsel' as “Ify”.

Base IQ started on August 18, 2010. Divided into two series, Series 1 will run for thirteen fast paced episodes, while series 2 will continue in January 2011.

MTV VJ CYNTHIA OKPALA SET TO WED

We’re happy to announce that MTV base VJ Cynthia Okpala has just got engaged to her friend and partner Ozoemena Mbanefo, with plans to exchange vows before year-end.

Okpala, who won the MTV base VJ search in 2007 has been dating Mbanefo for a while – before he proposed on June 12 during a group church outing.

‘We have our pastors’ blessings already and we’re already working towards a date,’ said Cynthia who’s getting ready to tape her new MTV base show, MTV base.IQ Sweetened By Buttermint later in the month. The bubbly bride-to-be will be back on our TV screens on DStv, STV and AIT from August 2010.

No date has been fixed for the wedding, ‘but it will happen before the end of the year’ says Cynthia.

Cynthia Okpala, 24, studied Computer Science at Ebonyi State University, graduating in 2007.

“I can’t wait to get out on the road with Base IQ,’’ Cynthia says. ‘’ Seeing celebrities compete with music fans in a test of their music knowledge will be riveting television entertainment. Can you beat your music heroes at their own game? – that will be a sweet victory indeed!” she concluded.
