EGO - I Believe (video) + Lyrics

Second single from the sonorous singer - EGO.

This emotional song was produced by the Genius, COBHAMS; the video was directed by the admirable Kemi Adetiba. Ego uses the stories of two photographers to highlight on the violence and massacre in Jos that erupted on January, 17th 2011.

Rise for you when you call on me
Do for you everything to uphold your glory
Fight for you with all the strength in me
Turn it all around and tell a better storyThat’s what I’ll do for you
That’s what I have to give you
Cos I believe in you
Don’t let them deceive you
We’re gonna make it >2x

Suffer and though it’s not in vainSmiling faces even though inside we’re hurting
I know you’ve been through so much pain
Feel for you so much love
And there is nothing I wouldn’t do for you
Cos I believe in you
I will serve you with all my heart
It’s true
We’re gonna make it >2x

Bridge

I believe in a greater tomorrow
I believe in a better today
Let’s look at all the sorrows
From those terrible yesterdays.

Rise for you when you call on me
Do for you everything to uphold your glory
Strive to be the best that I can be
Turn it all around and make history
Cos I believe in you
I will serve you with all my heart
I believe in you
I believe in you

There’s gonna be a better way >2x
If we just thought today we’re gonna make it
I believe…
Beautiful Zion

Don’t let anyone tell you
There are some things you can’t do
Just believe this way we’re gonna break it
(ad libs)

"I hang my celeb status at the door." - EGO

Ego Ogbaro is a Nigerian singer/songwriter who came into the limelight as Lagbaja's (the masked one) back up singer; she went solo after 12 years of service.

Yes, you know her! She's the one that got us all doing the "konko below" dance around 2002/03.

She is a simple, down-to-earth person who loves what she does. Speaking of what she does and happens to do well, Ego is currently working on a new video titled "I BELIEVE." Yesternight, Olamild Ent caught up with Ego to inquire about the upcoming project; here's what she revealed.

OE: Most people knew Ego and fell in love with her when she was with Lagbaja. They still love you--you went solo in 2009, correct?

Ego: 2007

OE: Okay! How has the journey been?

Ego: It was tough at first, but I thank God. I used what I learnt when I was with Lagbaja and it has been helping me.

OE: And what did you learn?

Ego: I learnt to be humble...not to take things for granted.

OE: I saw your "fall in love" video with Eldee. Was it the first solo video?

EGO FALL IN LOVE VIDEO

Ego: Yes

OE: Fantastic job on that video! You have another video on the way

Ego: Thanks, yes I do! The song is "I Believe" and it's a song of hope. The story is about all the violence going on; we wanted to show the effect on people, their lives, and to assure them that everything's gonna be fine.

OE: I saw still images of you in a mud house.

Ego: (laughs) yes! It was a nice location.

OE: Kemi Adetiba is the rave of the moment. How does it feel to be working with her on this project?

Ego: I worked with her on the first one and I feel very comfortable with her. She's very passionate about her work and I
admire that...very professional.

OE: Do you have a release date for the new video?

Ego: 2 weeks from now hopefully

OE: This video is a single from your forthcoming album, correct?

Ego: Yes and the album will be released very soon.

OE: I told people I was interviewing you. A fan named Tori Tseju says hello and wants to know the title of your solo project (album).

Ego: Title? hmmm I have some ideas, but I haven't decided.

OE: Okay! Let's talk about family for a minute. How do you balance being a wife with being a full time songstress?

Ego: I thank God; it's been easy managing it. My hubby understands my job, so that makes it okay. At the same time, I hang my celeb status at the door. (smiles)

OE: Aww...thank you so much for your time. I'll leave the rest for when I write an album review. Is there anything else you want to share?

Ego: I just want to say thank you to all my fans for hanging in there, supporting me, encouraging me, and loving me.

Ego Omalicha feat. Harrysong - Thinking about you

Lovely duet we got here. Questionmark's first lady Ego is definitely on a roll, and she is set to take on 2011 with a bang. Reworking the single titled Thinking About You with labelmate Harrysong, they make a lovely video that might just get you falling in love with that special one all over again.

Tito Da. Fire, Harrysong and Ego Omalicha collaborate on 'Graduation Day Remix'

On-air personality, singer and producer Tito Da Fire released the ‘Graduation Day’ single months back and has been catching on with the radio audience. The producer and singer has released a remix to the hit single with Harrysong and Ego, both signed to Questionmark Entertainment. Speaking on the remix, Tito said: “Harrysong Brought the energy on the track, its incredible the track can sound this way, you know its fun to do a track and hear people react with excitement about it then you have a friend kick a sixteen(bars) that brings a fresh angle to it.I am listening to Ego and harry on the track daily (smiling).”

Tito has become a favorite radio and TV personality as he anchors a show on Raypower and rose to prominence for anchoring the multiple award nominated/Nationally Syndicated (2001-2003) Star World Chart Hits (Star Music), a TV musical show where Tito interviewed Usher and Shaggy on their respective visits to Nigeria. He was once the official male “Voice” for Fanta radio commercials used worldwide between 1999 and 2002.he was also the official Close-up Toothpaste “voice” during same period. A date for Tito Da. Fire’s album release would be announced shortly.

Tito Da.Fire-Graduation Day Remix ft Harry Song & Ego

Born Jedidiah Otons, September 22. Tito has spent almost all his adult life as an entertainment personality. After winning a Hollywood Artiste Record Label song-writing contract with brother Michael "Mickey" Otons in 1994,the spark of recording was ignited leading to the formation of the duo Gent2men at ages eleven and thirteen respectively,. A meeting with Nigerian Reggae Star Daniel Wilson in August 1997 was the turning point for the duo. He took them thru months of fine-tuning in his three R's of Rhythm, Rhyme and Reason, without which a musical piece is incomplete.before loosing contact with the star, the duo promised him a return and that was three and a half years later in 2001 with Tito(as he was then known)becoming their lead vocalist ant frontman.

Tito, like his brother is a Graduate of Accountancy, nearing Chartered Status who Onstage displays a vocal aggression and highly energetic portrayal that often belies his easy-going personality,.Mickey and Tito Signed on to Gent2men Entertainment in 2002, a label they formed when they had garnered experience in various aspects of showbiz(Tito was the head, Media/promotions Department of a major Nigerian Record label,Ojez Music in 2005 and is currently an On-Air Personality/Presenter/Producer with Nigeria's Premier Independent Radio Station (Ray Power100.5fm,lagos, Nigeria)and runs an independent Radio/Tv production outfit Gent 2 Men Entertainment Concepts with brother,Mickey Otons)their first single "Seun ReRe(it's gon be alright)" was a chart topper and as much a controversial piece, earning them a N100million Naira (U$D715,000) libel lawsuit from Nigeria's songstress Christy Essien Igbokwe. The case never appeared in court. Their follow up single "Majekaja"(a Yoruba word meaning Don't let us fight),an afro hip-hop song (and later album title) was a national anthem and earned them spots on numerous charts across the nation: it showed the hall marks of a great duo. This song ironically bore a contrast to their first single which was a rapp song."Majekaja" was a massive hit in Nigeria, spanning several weeks at the top of several charts around the nation.

Tito has become a favorite TV personality for his anchoring of multiple award nominated/Nationally Syndicated (2001-2003) Star World Chart Hits (Star Music),a TV musical show where Tito interviewed Usher and Shaggy on their respective visits to Nigeria. He was once the official male "Voice" for Fanta radio commercials used worldwide between 1999 and 2002.he was also the official Close-up Toothpaste "voice" during same period. Following the 2003 release of the Gent2Men Majekaja album, the duo took a brief haitus. TIto is back in 2007 with a brand new sound ready to to test the solo waters. The first single sampled by industry players would tip Teeto as the biggest discovery of 2007. Indeed expectations are high as the large fanbase of Gent2Men earnestly await a follow-up to their previous hits. A surprise is what they are sure to get as Tito "Da Fire" says with a confident grin, "they'll be in for MO' of a pleasant shock". Teeto's first single is due to fall last quarter of 2007 on Gent2men Entertainment Concepts Label. GENT2MEN are also putting finishing touches to a new project 4 2007/8.

About Ego

Coming off the Questionmark Entertainment label, Jennifer Nwakaego Oduah – stage name Ego – is about to take her relatively lengthy career (considering her age) in the entertainment sector to another level. Born in Benin City in 1986, Ego kicked off her musical odyssey when she was six, singing at Christmas carols at her catholic primary school, Regina Mundi, Asaba, Delta state, where she’s from.

This though, is not the only activity that has prepared the Afro-pop crooner for her present occupation. An alumnus of the Lagos Model College, Ego – which means money in Ibo - spent time pursuing a career in pageantry, contesting in competitions like the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) and modelling for fashion outfits Zizi Cardow and Modella, while singing and miming at gigs.

These extra-curricular activities however took a back stage to her academic pursuits as she enrolled at the University of Lagos for a course in – not surprisingly – the Creative Arts. Her course encompasses music, theatre arts and visuals amongst other things.

A go-getter who inputs all her energy to achieve her targets, the light-skinned Ego has decided to follow her initial dreams of attaining stardom using music as her medium. Her first single, “Omalicha Nwa” translates to a beautiful child. The single, which features an appearance from fellow label mate Harrisong, has drawn favourable comments from industry watchers, thus encouraging Ego and the Questionmark label to speed up work on her forthcoming album.

Admitting that she loves cameras, Ego’s list of musical inspirations include namesake Jennifer Lopez, and Toni Braxton. Little wonder then, that she plans to be the best while also preaching love and motivating people with her music.

Drawing from her experiences in modelling and fashion, and armed with a degree in the Creative Arts, the odds of Ego making it big in the Nigerian entertainment scene are short; especially when you consider an industry behemoth in the guise of Questionmark being the label behind her.
