New World Nigeria Showcase featuring Tiwa Savage, Tuface, Naeto C and Asa

Bank of Industry Nigeria sponsored a New world Nigeria event at the G-Live centre in Surrey ,UK on Sunday the 15th of July . This event sees Nigeria showcase the best in fashion, art, theatre and music to the rest of the world.


On the day, Nollywood legends Olu Jacob and Justice Esiri put on a stage play with other Nollywood stars Joke Silva, Segun Arinze,Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey and Bimbo Akintola doing the same over the month long festivities. To round off an eventful night, Nigerian music superstars like Tiwa Savage, Neato C and Tuface were joined on stage by The Nigerian Diasporama All Star Band, featuring Asa, Dele Sosimi, Tony Allen & Keziah Jones.

JOKE SILVA, TINSEL STARS FOR BOBTV 2012!

This year’s edition of BOBTV is set to stir up Nigeria’s capital!

The organizers announced early Tuesday that veteran actress and director, Joke Silva, Executive Producer of AMAA, Peace Fiberesima and Production Designer, Pat Nebo will join the league of distinguished individuals who have excelled in their various industries; scheduled to be recognized and rewarded with the 2012 BOBTV Honours List Awards.

Past BOBTV awardees include notable figures like Ben Murray-Bruce, Late Mr. Sam Loco Efe, Mr. Peter Igho, Nkem Owoh, Bukky Ajayi and manyothers.

Students from different Universities across the country will also go head-to-head in a competition showcasing their works and films at the Ladi Kwali convention centre, Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja from Tuesday, March 13th to Friday, March 16th, 2012

The best university or student goes home with the grand prize of N1m along with several production opportunities.

Meanwhile, the lead speakers for this year have been confirmed. They include: foremost Entertainment lawyer and Best of the Best Honors holder Mr. Efere Ozako who shall deliver the Core lecture, The Minister of Trade and Industry Dr. Olusegun Aganga, Chinenye UzoukwuMD, INFOSOFT, Dan Molina of NBC America, Peter Moutray, Nicola both of Highbury College, Production Designer, Pat Nebo, Gloria Ene (FNIQS), Yibo Koko, Grace Babalola, Hon. Joe Mamelu, Anuok Bartard and Film director and Producer, Chris Ihidero amongst others

‘‘The speakers for BOBTV 2012 are intellectuals from within and outside Nigeria who would enlighten guests and participants on the need to work towards a change in the Nigerian entertainment industries which is rapidly growing in Nigeria and Africa and achieve a strong and constructive Creative Economy in line with the world’s best practices by 2015” says executive producer, Amaka Igwe.

BOBTV 2012 tagged “The Creative Industries: Nigeria’s Untapped Wealth” will also feature the cast of MNET’s much loved soap Tinsel: Matilda Obaseki, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Iretiola Doyle, and many others who are billed to attend this year’s Expo. The star actors are expected to have a one-on-one experience with their fans at a special autograph session.

Apart from a special screening of ‘Big Daddy’, the short film on rape, this year’s edition of BOBTV will begin with a music fiesta to be hosted by Storm 360 while an after party would be hosted by guest celebrities. Past editions have been hosted by the likes of the Bayelsa State Culture Ministry, Soundcity and Lagos State Tourism Board.

The line-up of performers for this year’s Expo is yet to be announced by the organizers. Past performers on BOBTV include P-Square, 2Face, M.I, Mamuzee amongst many others.

The Premiere of “Adesuwa” an epic movie by Ace filmmaker Lancelot Imasuen Oduwa is scheduled for the 14th and will draw the crème de la crème of Abuja in a night to be remembered. Red carpet and cocktail is by 6pm.

In keeping with BOBTV tradition of film and social responsibility, this year’s women in film as programmed by Esther Ekanem shall feature films by Dr. Joy Emordi on women trafficking. Other films are expected from popular filmmakers from Liberia, Mali and Ghana.

BOBTV started in 2002 by the pioneers of the Nigerian Film and TV Programmes Industry who wanted to create structures that facilitate the foundation and exchange of high quality TV programmes. By 2005, the African Film and Television Programmes Expo had become an international event, attracting visitors, participants and resource persons from Canada, Zimbabwe, Namibia, England, United States, South Africa, Ghana and many more.

Nollywood greats Patience Ozonkwo, Joke Silva, Alex Usifo lock horn in the new advocacy lick

“Victims of the society by actor and film maker Elvis Chuks. With this level of artistic combination, one couldn’t expect anything less than a wonderful executed movie and this is exactly what we get.

The movie “Victim of the Society” is an advocacy flick done artistically in the aftermath effect of child abuse. It takes a holistic look at what happens when a child is turned into a monster and when the monster is unleashed on the society. The movie explores the damaging effect of abuse and the role of the society.

Speaking elaborately about the movie, Patience Ozonkor says “The story is a very unique one. I felt touched by the storyline of the movie when I read the script. Many people have done stories concerning what people are passing through in the society but they have never touched it the way this script touched it. Look at the background of the girl in the movie, the foundation of the family, when the foundation is broken, every other thing goes wrong. So the foundation matters a lot. Poverty, abject poverty can lead one into a lot of things, lack of care from parents, lack of care from governmen

t can lead our children into bad things, for example, using their body to achieve what they want.

“This is the kind of movie we want to be doing now, topical movies that will tell stories that would go anywhere in the world, not just stories that portray things in our society but all societies around the world not just Africans alone. Even the white people go through what was portrayed in this movie which is an international standard movie” Mama Gee said.

Also commenting on the movie, veteran actress Joke Silva says “the movie treats on various issues that affect our society such as human trafficking, the HIV/AIDS surge child abuse and women abuse. Personally what I like about the movie are the topics the movie bothers on, because you know, when one form of abuse is left unchecked, it always leads to more abuses and it keeps going on and on like that and this is what happens in our present day society”.

The producer Elvis Chuks became popular with his roles in numerous Nollywood flicks and soap opera such as, Superstory. He is one of the very few to have studied motion pictures outside the shores of this country, where he bagged an advanced diploma in filmmaking. Born in Abia state, he started his movie career when he featured in “Tales by Moonlight” “sweet and sour” and other sitcoms.

When asked who the target audience is, Elvis said “the movie is a movie for the society and it is not for Nigeria alone but for the whole of Africa, according to reports 75% of people in the world have being a victim of one abuse or the other. I am very passionate about this movie because the message cuts across the social classes in our society and the world over”. “Victims of the society” paints a picture of a growing child from a remote area who constantly witnesses the abuse of his mother by his drunken father and he has to come to terms with his two younger sisters who hawk on the street for survival. This movie is intended to sensitize people on the dangers of child neglect, child abuse and women abuse.

Asa visits Project Fame Contestants

Accomplished by her manager Janet Nwose, Asa spent the whole day in the Academy, as Ultima Studio CEO Femi Ayeni and Academy Principal Joke Silva showed her round, and introduced the contestants to her.

The visit kicked off her mentorship session with the Season 3 contestants- and the contestants were happy to listen to her, and also perform her songs.

She is also expected to sit as a visiting judge on the show this weekend
