Soldier of Love is only the sixth studio album the band Sade have released during their 25 year career, and the first since Lovers Rock in 2000. For Sade herself, as the lynchpin of the group's songwriting effort, it's a simple matter of integrity and authenticity. "I only make records when I feel I have something to say. I'm not interested in releasing music just for the sake of selling something. Sade is not a brand."

Sade Adu - Soldier of Love [video]

The much-anticipated video for Sade’s first single release from the brand new album, Soldier of Love is now available to view worldwide. You can now pre-order the much-anticipated sixth studio album, Soldier of Love from Sade on iTunes. The single is also available for the first time to purchase on iTunes in the US.




Vocalist Sade Adu, bassist Paul Denman, guitarist and sax player Stuart Matthewman and keyboardist Andrew Hale started work on the album at Peter Gabriel's Real World studio in 2008 and after a series of fortnightly sessions, the album was completed in the summer of 2009.

The feel of the music has moved away from the old country soul styling of Lover's Rock and has assumed a more eclectic identity. At times the band sound like the original Sade, with Matthewman back blowing soft sax on 'In Another Time' and the vocal on 'Long Hard Road' hymning. But with songs such as the joyously quirky reggae chant 'Babyfather', and the dramatically arranged album opener 'The Moon and the Sky', Sade have been exploring new territory.

Known for their smooth sounds and rhythmic melodies, Sade has enjoyed phenomenal success both internationally and Stateside throughout the span of their twenty-five year career.
Since the release of their debut album, Diamond Life in 1984 the band have seen all five of their studio albums land in the Top 10 on Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart selling a total of more than 50 million albums worldwide to date.

They've been nominated for American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and have won a Brit Award for Best Album for Diamond Life, three Grammy Awards - first in 1986 for Best New Artist, then in 1994 for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group for 'No Ordinary Love', and again in 2002 for Best Pop Vocal Album with Lovers Rock.

And the wait is now over: The highly anticipated new body of work from Sade.

Soldier of Love will be released worldwide on 8th February, 2010 and is Sade's first official studio album since the multi-platinum release of Lovers Rock in 2000.

SADE nominated for Brit Award

To Celebrate its 30th Anniversary, The BRIT Awards 2010 will include a new retrospective award - The ‘British Album of 30 Years’. The category includes the top 10 best selling albums that have also won British Album categories over the past three decades, and we are very happy to announce that Sade’s debut album ‘Diamond Life’ has been nominated. The award will be voted for by Radio 2 and 6 Music listeners – more details to follow soon.

And this time she is a soldier of Love. Lets not forget that Sade is lead singer of the group by the same name. Sade, the lead singer was born in Ibadan, Nigeria of a Nigerian father and British mother. Her mother took her to England after having divorced Sade's father in the 50s.

Through her teens to adulthood, Sade perfected her talent and has turned into a superstar in a league of her own.
