Sound Sultan, M.I Abaga, Julius Agwu & Others Redefine Peace At The #RSVP Abuja Peace Concert

Sound Sultan, MI, Julius Agwu and others gave the word “Peace” a whole new meaning as they thrilled patriotic Nigerians with electrifying performances at the RSVP Abuja Peace Concert organized by the Advocacy group, Enough Is Enough Nigeria (EiE Nigeria) which held yesterday, the 26th of March 2015 at the Ladi Kwali Conference Centre, Sheraton, Abuja.

The very well attended concert brought together the popular entertainers as well as up and coming performers such as DNA Twins, LK Kuddy, Krump Dance Studios, Ceaser, Debby Veren, Othmanbee, Spell, Distrikt Matters, Spotlight and many others with the aim of encouraging Nigerians to join the decision process in the coming elections by voting peacefully.

The event which was open to everyone with free entrance to everyone with a PVC, is one of the many activities organized by the group as part of its RSVP Campaign to stir up the need for youths to Register, Select, Vote and Protect their votes (RSVP) in the forth coming presidential and gubernatorial elections.

Speaking at the event, the Nigeria Director of Osiwa, funders of the #RSVP Concerts, Jude Ilo, explained how pertinent it is for every citizen of voting age to join the decision process tomorrow as that’s the only voice we have to decide who leads the country to the better place we crave.

“No one should allow themselves be used by politicians to shed blood or vandalize properties. That speaks very low of the leaders of tomorrow we are preparing ourselves to be. Besides if you give your soul because of any Politician, when you are gone, their life continues like nothing happened. Please beware Nigerians... Let’s Vote, Not Fight”, he adds.

Other highlights of the events were Mobile phones and Laptop giveaways among others.

Up and coming artiste, Spotlight, winner of the laptop giveaway, was overwhelmed as it came to him as a total surprise “ I had no idea they will be giving out laptops or mobile phones. I only came here to do what I do best and amazingly, everyone fell in love with my performance and started screaming they should give me the laptop. This is the Nigeria we really need where we appreciate a fellow’s efforts and not tear down. Very grateful to the organizers for this”, he said. 

The RSVP Concert tour, which already held in various cities across the nation - Lagos, Jos, Kaduna, Owerri & Port-Harcourt - is a voter education and youth mobilization initiative of EiE Nigeria, a non-partisan coalition of individuals and organizations committed to instituting a culture of good governance and public accountability in Nigeria.

MI, one of EiE's RSVP Ambassadors and a headliner in 3 of the 6 cities said, "It is important to engage as many young people as possible in the governance process and whenever I can lend my voice and my time, I'm glad to support EiE's work."

EiE believes that if Nigerians engage actively around the message of the RSVP, the quality of governance in Nigeria will improve.

2FACE IDIBIA's MILLION VOICES FOR PEACE (MVP) PRESENTS "BREAK THE SILENCE"

In a timely response to the global call for the release of the abducted Chibok girls and the restoration of peace in Nigeria, galaxy of stars under the umbrella of 2face Idibia's Million Voices for Peace (MVP) project have recorded a song to articulate their call for peace and unity and raise funds to support the work of the Nigerian Red Cross.

MVP on this song features 2face Idibia, Precision Productions (Trinidad  Tobago), Samini (Ghana), K-Slim, PKD, Squadee (Ghana), Spyke, Sound Sultan, Essence, Righteousman, Jo El, Ferre Galo (DRC) and Machel Montano (Trinidad & Tobago).

Idibia, speaking from France stated thus: "The call for the safe return of the Chibok Girls and real work towards peace building must be sustained. This is just another step in the journey towards the promotion of peace and unity in our nation and the world."

According to Efe Omorogbe of Now Muzik/Hypertek Digital/960 MG, coordinator of the project, this is coming at a very crucial time when the reality of the situation has hit everyone really hard. This wonderful group of patriots, supported by their brothers from the sub continent and the Caribbean have done one better than tweet and shout. We believe the message will reach the people and that proceeds from sale will help the work of the Red Cross. We also intend to help mobilize volunteers to turn up and assist the Red Cross and NEMA in their humanitarian efforts.

Machel Montana: He is the front man of the popular Soca band, The HD Family. During his career, which spans over 30 years, he has recorded several songs alongside many of Caribbean music's most popular acts, such as Alison Hind, Beenie Man, Calypso Rose, Burning Flames, Wyclef Jean, Canibus, Red Rat, Shaggy, Vybz Kartel, Buju Banton, Mr. Vegas, Doug-E-Fresh, Pitbull, and Busta Rhymes to name a few. He is arguably the biggest Soca artiste in the Caribbean.

PRECISION PRODUCTION: Precision Productions established and run by Kasey Phillips and Nikholai Greene, Trinidadian born production duo.

KASEY PHILIPS: Kasey "KC" Phillips is the son of legendary producer, guitarist and engineer Mr. Kenny Phillips of Trinidad and Tobago has been producing & engineering since the age of 12 years after practically growing up and living in his Dad's music studio from infancy. He currently works with most of the top Soca artistes of Trinidad & Tobago, producing, mixing, mastering & engineering.

SAMINI: formerly known as Batman Samini, is a multi-award winning Ghanaian Dancehall artiste. He has performed alongside international artistes like Sean Paul, Akon, Kevin Little, Shaggy, Wayne Wonder, Jay Z, Damien Marley, Bennie Man, and Chaka Demus & Pliers.

SQUADEE: Squadee is a Afro/Hip-Hop group based in New Jersey.. The group consists of four members SkiDazzit, Jimmy Dorgan, Mike Kensah, & Austino. Team SQ is on the quest to becoming the first African group to have members from different countries coming together to deliver a unique sound fusing the Nigerian and Ghanaian music flavors into one.

NAETO C: Multi-award winning rapper, song-writer, and producer. His career has spanned over 8 years professionally and he has 2 albums to his credit. He is currently signed to his own imprint White Kaftan Gang.

SOUND SULTAN: One of the Pioneers of Urban Nigerian Music, his career in show business started professionally in the 90’s. He started hosting shows in order to raise money for studio sessions. The most prominent show he emceed was a talent show that discovered the likes of P-Square and Mr. Raw Nwanne. Since then, he has gone on to release 6 albums, all to critical acclaim and he is a known associate of Haitian emcee, Wyclef.

Essence: A gifted singer whose career has spanned over a decade and is signed to one of Nigeria’s biggest urban record label, Kennis Music.

Righteousman: A music veteran whose career in music has spanned is a music artist whose genre of expression tends towards reggae. He is signed to Tongues of Unity Entertainment Company

Jo El:

PKD: One part of the quartet that make up Loose Kollective, PKD is a gifted emcee who also moonlights as a writer. Loose Kollective is managed by Now Muzik.

K SLIM: A young talented singer signed to Now Muzik Recordings. He was the winner of a talent search competition put together by Tony One Week in conjunction with Now Muzik.

SPYKE: Now Muzik Recordings’ in-house producer who is also a singer/songwriter.

LAMI PHILLIPS, TUFACE IDIBIA, SOUND SULTAN AND TITI LOKEI JOIN IN WITH SENEGALESE MUSICIANS TO SUPPORT AFRICAN FARMERS AND RURAL WOMEN

Lami joined fellow West African artists Tuface Idibia, Sound Sultan, Baaba Maal to name a few to join in the GROW campaign to support African farmers and rural women.

Members of the GROW campaign recently launched the video clip entitled “Where is my 10%" a hymn offered to farmers for African International Year of Family Farming.

This video clip produced in family farms in Senegal and Nigeria defends the place and role of African farmers. It is aimed to remind the African Heads of States and ask the public to support African farmers by consuming local products.

The song “Where is my 10%” was produced in November 2013 by a group of West African artists with the support of the GROW campaign in West Africa. The video sees 2Face Idibia, Lami Phillips, Sound Sultan Titi Lokei (Nigeria) join Baaba Maal, Daara J Family, DK (Senegal), Ceepee (Mauritania), Danny Lee (Niger) and Smarty (Burkina Faso) to ask African Heads of States to keep their promises.

A petition to ask the Heads of African State to translate their commitments into concrete actions was launched in partnership with the NGO ONE and farmers organizations across Africa to support the campaign " Where is my 10% '
