Singer, Sunny Neji, is back in our radar and this time around with a tweaked beat, fast-paced and subtle highlife-laden single, Ojoro-remix. He will be officially releasing the single a day after Valentine, Friday, Feb 15. Ojoro-Remix does two things for Sunny Neji. For those expecting a different beat, they have it. And those that have been used to the artistic expression of him, He also did not disappoint. What Sunny Neji did with Ojoro Remix, is to reach out to the new market, obviously the youth and retain old followers without distorting their “taste” of music.

Encomium weekly, Nigeria’s foremost magazine and awards company has announced plans o celebrate its 15th anniversary with their annual revelry of thanksgiving- The White Gig!
The Lagos- based publication says they are leaving no stones unturned in celebrating 15 years of absolute excellence
“We know that absolutely nothing guarantees success than standing firm and strong, we are aware that being lucky, preserving and long suffering, being smart and hard working count for a lot. But grace, the grace of God and your karma come into play when it concerns endeavors” Kunle Bakare publisher of Encomium says.
So on Sunday March 18, 2012 at The Haven in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, the annual White Gig will not only play host to achievers from all walks of life, but also kick off a series of events marking 15 years of excitement, adventure, achievements, hard work and God’s grace. Apart from the White gig, Bakare says other gigs on the card include The Green and White Groove, The Black and White Ball and an end of the year party. We’re told a special publication to commemorate the anniversary is also in the works.
Since its debut in 2007 The White Gig has become one of the most anticipated events in Nigeria’s social calendar. With celebrities and friends clad in gorgeous all white ensembles, the atmosphere is blindingly different, and of course there is enough to eat and drink “We can’t wait to pamper our guests” Bakare says. Encomium’s White gig has hosted many stars over the years, including Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Funke Akindele, Genevieve Nnaji, Omowunmi Akinnifesi, Julius Agwu, T.W.O, Princess, Sunny Neji, Dayo Adeneye and Keke Ogungbe
Others include Alariwo, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Stephanie Okereke, Zizi Cardow, Segun Arinze and Nikki Laoye. Tagged “Take the steps, walk the Talk”, the 6-hour event will kick off with an elaborate red carpet reception. In 1997, he became a nation-wide success with the release of his soar away, ‘Mr Fantastik’. Many thought he wouldn’t surpass that feat musically, but he did with a resounding success in 2003 after the release of the medley love and marriage song, ‘Oruka’. ‘Oruka’ became a standard wedding song and national anthem of sort. He followed with ‘Face me’, ‘Ojoro’ and ‘Abosede’. Now Sunny Neji is back with musical cuts that will make the heart merry and the ears tingle and a sense of advocacy in a new album aptly titled, ‘Timeless’.
The album ‘Timeless’ was produced with the eclectic inputs of Samclef, Dapiano, Adebayo, Phat-E and Bright. It introduces exotic remixes, collaboration and he experiments with daring lyrics which is evident in the remix of ‘One more time’ and Bad as I bad ft fragrance. ‘Timeless’ is classic and has 13 tracks, three remixes and collaboration inputs of four artistes; J’odie on ‘Lovey Dovey’, Jhibo on ‘Awarawa’, Fragrance on ‘Bad as I Bad’ and Kiki on ‘No be Oyinbo’. In an audacious move, Sunny and his management company are selling the album for N1, 000, a total departure from the N150 obtainable in the market. It is an initiative he called the advocacy move for the industry. Speaking further he, said ‘I don’t think N1000 is too much, I think the music is worth more than a thousand naira. A thousand naira is not much for a CD you are going to have for a life time, if you consider how much you spend to buy things like recharge cards and the likes. Those who have been investing in music have not been making money. If I decide to invest in a young artist now, the truth of the matter is that, I’ll promote the young artist but there will be no return on investment except if the person becomes very successful or get one endorsement or the other. That’s why it’s only the artists who have been investing in the industry. No business man is coming to the industry to say this is a lucrative business, I want to invest in it; only the artists are doing the investment and it’s not enough. All the major recording companies have pulled out of the country because of that, so, we need to create the atmosphere to encourage them to come back so that the business will be as big as it ought to be’. The album which has being released is spreading across locations in Lagos and other states. ‘We are selling the album at selected locations in Lagos and we are working on more locations outside Lagos. The response in the past weeks has been encouraging and we have no doubts we are going to go platinum’ his publicist Bigsam Media said.

Charles Granville was born into a musical family. His family is known for their song writing skills though he is the first to sing professionally. He was discovered by Pastor Belemina T. Obunge. The Pastor, who while leading him to Christ noticed his talent and immediately created avenues for him to express it. Charles Granville founded the Anointed Voices of Emarid College while he was just 16 years of age. At seventeen, he was already the Provincial Music director of the then Rivers/Bayelsa provinces of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and led the choir to persistent victory at the annual competitions held at the Redemption Camp.
He always believed that young talented people should explore their talents and make the best out of it. Hence in 2002 he founded the Shabach Foundation an NGO which was deeply involved in youth development, talent identification, coaching and mentoring, youth counselling, etc. The foundation is responsible for the discovery of most of the strongest young talents coming out from the Niger Delta.
Not withstanding his job with one of the biggest multi national oil companies in Nigeria, he still makes out time to write and release hit songs of inspiration, praise and worship to God to the admiration of his fans. His “Charles Granville Appreciation Society” on facebook has reached about 1,500 members. These members are now joining him in doing charity. They just started an initiative they called FEED A CHILD PROJECT and intend to visit orphanages and other charity homes all over Nigeria and render assistance.
