STEPHANIE LINUS STEPS OUT AT THE VLISCO WOMEN'S MONTH AWARD NIGHT IN GHANA (PHOTOS)‎

On Saturday 5th April 2014, Nollywood star actress Stephanie Linus attended the Vlisco Women’s Month Award Night in Accra, Ghana, an event which she co-hosted.

This was part of her role as the face of this year’s International Women’s Day campaign for Vlisco’s Dare to Dream Campaign.

At the event, Eugenia Tachie-Menson, a social entrepreneur best known for bringing the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Ghana, (the first in Africa) who had the highest number of votes for Ghana was presented with her Award. In attendance was former Ghanaian first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Joyce Aryea, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture, Dzifa Gomashie, Hollywood actress, Rosario Dawson among others.

The Hommage à l’Art collection honours Vlisco’s art by placing our iconic drawings in the spotlight. This theme evolves from this year’s focus on craftsmanship. Vlisco’s fabrics are known for their expressive drawings and this is just one of the things that make our brand so unique and beloved by our consumers. This collection pays tribute to Vlisco’s drawings in a number of ways. From the feminine florals that draw on our batik heritage to modern hand-drawn abstract designs, the collection features a wide range of icons.

For the first time, some of the drawings have been printed using different techniques, so that the same design is repeated in Java and Wax-block fabrics. Various heritage drawings were also reinterpreted to give their stories a podium. These heritage drawings inspired our designers to create new fabric designs, using an amalgam of famous Vlisco icons literally placed on a pedestal.
