She's back! The first ever Nigerian Idol takes back her place with banging new single, 'Ewa Ba mi Jo'

She's been christened 'Whitney' by the judges, and she shows why in this new track - soaring high with the high notes. The very first Nigerian Idol, Yeka Onka is back with 'Ewa ba mi jo'!

The song gives you a feeling of dancing in different parts of the world. From Kenya to Jamaica and to the pubs in London, she delivers party pleasers and sure club bangers. Produced by Micworks, Yekas energy is raw and the combination is a perfect blend.

Her first official performance of 'E aw ba mi Jo' will be at Industry Nite on Wednesday September 5. It will be electrifying set along with her team 'Dance na the main thing' and dance coach/Performance Director, Jeffery Daniel.

Fans will be sure to love the eclectic mix of catchy lyrics in English and Yoruba .

"It's been an incredible few months working on the songs on the album coming soon," Yeka said. "But it's been very rewarding. This album has different shades of me but the voice will be the thread all through and to keep my fans happy. Yeka who has shared the stage with Les Nubians, Shalamar, Timi Dakolo, Yinka Davies, Capita FEMI amongst others is set to define her space in Nigerias entertainment industry. She made her debut with "Follow me" after winning on Nigerian Idol in 2010.

After a life changing win at the first ever Nigerian Idol and months of hard work, the glamorous and velvety toned Yeka Onka is finally out with her debut single. Titled 'Follow You', the highly anticipated hit was produced by ace Chocolate City producer and artiste, Jesse Jags.

With an upbeat tempo, the sultry voiced singer who has been called a Nigerian answer to Whitney Houston serenades her lover with spicy declarations of love in different languages. Fans will be sure to love the eclectic mix of catchy lyrics in English, Yoruba and her native Igbo.

Nigerian Idol Yeka Onka leads the way; releases hot new single ‘Follow You’

Yeka Onka, winner of the first ever Nigerian Idol will light up the Industry Nite stage at the Oriental Hotel on 21 September, 2011. The songbird is billed to launch her professional career with the release of her highly anticipated brand new single, ‘Follow You’. This single will be
the first to be launched from her upcoming album.

The Nigerian Idol sensation, who won the Nigerian edition of the global franchise in April 2011, will also be performing her other songs alongside a professional live band with which she has been practicing for months, as well as a retrospective performance of the Whitney Houston classic ‘I will always love you’ which won her the gold ticket to the competition, and
became one of the audience favourites.

“We are excited to see Yeka finally emerge into her own,” said Rotimi Pedro, who is executive producer for Nigerian Idol. “She has spent the past few months working hard, alongside her label and management, on the music from her upcoming album; and that gruelling schedule has included work with some of the best producers here in Nigeria – including Cobhams Asuquo and Jesse Jagz - and in the United Kingdom where the album is based, and soon Nigeria will welcome its newest music sensation.

Highlighting her step onto the Nigerian music stage as the industry’s next big thing, Yeka will be joined on stage by some of Nigeria’s favourite music divas performing their own songs and duets with the Idol. Amongst other special performances, season one judge and singer Yinka Davies will be supporting her protégée in a rendition of Seun Rere as a tribute to the late ‘Lady of songs’ Christy Essien Igbokwe. It will be remembered that the late Igbokwe’s last public performance was alongside Yeka on the Idol stage.

Working the starlet through her dance routines and creating her unique music persona is international choreographer and recording artiste Jeffrey Daniel, who is remembered for working closely on dance routines with the late King of Pop Michael Jackson.

“It has been an exciting few months working through an amazing range of sounds and options,” Yeka said in a statement from her representatives. “I have been very blessed to work with this team of professionals to present my music. The winner of the first ever Nigerian Idols Yeka Onka, has been the subject on the lips of everyone. Rumour has it that the six-foot stunner just returned from a vacation in South Africa.
