MODELE AND SAMUEL LEAVE PROJECT FAME

Two contestants were eliminated last weekend in this season’s MTN Project Fame West Africa. The two contestants, Modele and Samuel were part of the five contestants with the lowest amount of public votes last week. The remaining contestants were Rhoda, Adebola and Helen.

After the contestants were announced, they were given one last chance to perform the songs they sang the week before. All the contestants put their heart in the reggae songs they performed but at the end of the day someone had to go. “It’s a tough job as usual” said Kwame. Before the judges made their decision, Bibie told the five that “you sincerely do have star
potential”. After her statement the judges made their choice, deciding to save Rhoda. The buck was now passed to the members of the faculty.

Academy Principal Joke Silva on behalf of the Faculty said that they are surprised at the contestants that are up for elimination. The group of music professionals whose main duty is to tutor the contestants voted for Adebola to stay in the competition. With three contestants left it was the turn of the contestants who were not part of the five to cast their votes. At the end of the day Helen had the highest number of votes thereby saving her from elimination. Modele and Samuel were the last contestants on stage and with none of them being saved they were automatically eliminated from MTN Project Fame West Africa.

Modele Fatoki was born in September 1987 in Minna, Niger State and currently lives in Abeokuta, while Liberian Samuel Stryka is a student at the Unity Party Institute, Monrovia
Before they left the competition they performed for one last time. Samuel sang Sunshine Day which the crowd loved while Modele sang the classic Water by Fela which got the audience moving. With four contestants gone, 14 contestants are now remaining in the Project Fame Academy. Expect things to get tougher and more exciting as the show progresses. This week expect another music icon to grace the Performance Academy and also take a seat with the judges.

Past celebrities that have been at this year’s Project Fame are Asa, Samini and Lagbaja.
Asa, who herself had entered many talent shows and struggled as an upcoming act before finding her break, joined the faculty members to take the contestants through rehearsals- showing them the dos and on’ts of singing and performing. he second guest judge Samini flew in from Ghana to be part of the show; and just like Asa, he also mentored the contestants and joined Kwame, Tee-Y Mix, Bibi and Nomoreloss to judge performances two weeks ago.

Masked musician Lagbaja was the visiting judge last weekend. You can now start voting for the contestants after they performed contemporary African songs last weekend. To vote for your favourite contestant just text his/her number to 306 from an MTN line. Each text costs N50. Your vote could take your favourite contestant one step closer in achieving his/her dream.
