‎FINALISTS EMERGE FROM FASHION FOCUS AFRICA INITIATIVE

At the 8th edition of the Lagos Fashion Week which took place in October 2018, nine semi-finalists who applied to be part of the Fashion Focus programme were selected to move to the interview stage. Out of this nine African creatives, five finalists have been chosen after series of interviews based on an assessment criterion that focused on their creative and commercial vision.

They include Mohammed Jafaru Larry of Larry Jay (Ghana), Linda Mukangoga of Haute Baso (Rwanda), Amali Curtis of ILI (Nigeria), Katungulu Mwendwa (Kenya) and Ilse-Naolila Teixeira (Angola). They will each receive creative development support, opportunities to develop their samples, produce a capsule collection at the NEPC Human Capital Development Centre and also apply for Fashion Focus Fund 2020 in collaboration with FETS Wallet. They will also be able to show at Heineken Lagos Fashion Week 2019 and have business development support.

Fashion Focus is an annual program that presents great opportunities for young designers to harness their skills and promote their talent in the fashion industry. Designers who benefited from past programmes include Kenneth Ize, Maxivive, Orange Culture, Sisiano, Iamisigo and lots more.
