DeolaSagoe defines the evening essential with a vintage seductive cocktail dress. Using her signature-layered

complications, she sculpts a corset inspired fitting outer bodice garment, which dances at the bottom with the rhythm of the swinging sixties. The glitzy glitter of sequins, as well as the shimmer from the tight and firmly woven Aso-oke [Ashokay] is the predominant texture and fabric underlying the more delicate fabrics such as laces. The beauty of it all brought to life in the night-light. This risqué cocktail train will grace the African Fashion Week Catwalk with derivatives from the skimpy cheeky dress to the prissy conservative.
Earlier this year, DeolaSagoe rose the audience at the Mercedes Benz 2010 ARISE African collective in New York to a standing ovation. They experienced “Regalia.” A military inspired collection where the designer would redefine regal attire with a regimental feel. Sesilee Lopez opened the show, unleashing the season’s military sex appeal with high collars, lace, golden epaulets and drainpipe trousers with hip enhancing cargo pockets.
Soon after NYFW, DS Flagship store in Lagos has taken requests from New Yorkstockists of Designer clothing. Following that, the brand is now represented at Elizabeth Charles, NY. Her clothes have been the choice of celebrities such as Nigerian musician Nneka for Vogue magazine and her current tour with Nas and Damian Marley, and fashionably after the aforementioned NYFW, American actress, model, columnist and socialite, Lydia Hearst wears a bespoke DS Asho-oke dressfor the E! 20th Anniversary Party. Back in Africa, you would not mistake the DeolaSagoe outfits worn on the cover of South Africa’s leading fashion and beauty magazine, Marie Claire. The saga continues …
With the same attention to detail, the 2010 Spring Summer Collection has taken shape from pencil sketches, computer

illustrations, textile and swatch matches, to meticulously stitched outfits, tried and fitted by the compliant mannequins or the designer herself. When asked about the influences in her clothes, “I often picture the woman dancing in my clothes, and that brings its own rhythm and musical element to the creative process.”
Hence, the chosen silhouette for this collection accentuates the bust of the female figure, cinched at the midriff, opening up into a cone in such a way that it rocks just above the waist. Why? Deola wants to flatter your curves, any curve. High heels, your perfect compliment, [prescribed by the quintessential designer] will enhance the swishy movement of the coned skirt and the garment as a whole. While these accents underlie the structure on which the collection is built, the sheer variety will swank something special for every lady. The irony is that, while DeolaSagoe struts forward the campaign for a renascent African fashion this June, she connects you with the era of the late 50’s and 60’s.
This is DeolaSagoe Vintage.
And that would have been the end of a breathtaking show, with a breathtaking number, sported by Dr Precious MoloiMotsepe – But!,DeolaSagoe continues to give more and more. She has chosen to launch her new range of Polo Shirts and Premium Casual-Tees in Johannesburg South Africa this year.
