Sad news filtered through the entertainment community yesterday. Just as speculation was mounting, an official press release from 9ice’s PR representatives confirmed the news. Award winning Nigerian Artist 9ice and his wife of one and half years, beauty expert Toni Payne have broken up.

It’s a brand new year of opportunities and possibilities; and we’ll specially like to thank you for your love and support for 9ice and his label this past year.
That 9ice has grown from an upcoming singer-performer, to become one of Africa’s most promising exports, is not just as a result of his talent, hard work and can-do spirit; but because the media in Nigeria (print, broadcast and online) have been extremely kind to him and his music.
Unfortunately, we may have some sad news for you.
9ice and his beautiful wife Toni Payne; with whom he tied the knots almost two years ago; are separating.
The couple have agreed to separate for a while, even though they continue to remain good friends and business partners.
Their baby Zion will reside with Toni for now.
This is a very very tough decision for the couple, and it’s a tough, even trying time for the young partnership we all admire so much. And they’re even the more constrained to make this
announcement; knowing it will shatter many of their fans, and admirers inside and outside the country.But they have both agreed to be responsible about the development, and make public what is necessary, to avoid unnecessary speculations, and rumours.
And it is their wish that we all respect their privacy at this period.
Neither 9ice nor Toni will be granting any press interviews on this matter.

A while back, I read a not-so-pleasant article about 9ice. I chose not to write or say a word on it because I thought it was BS!! There were no supporting facts to back up what the article claimed. At this point, I cannot help but wonder if what I read in the article was true. Oh well time will tell.

I pray and hope dt 9ice and Toni settle their differences and get back 2gether not just becos it`s the right thing 2 do but becos they`ve exchanged vows and as such produced a loving son "Zion"...In my opinion after being married for almost 10yrs despite d fact dt i`d settled abroad for over 2 decades b4 going back 2 Naija to get married...i can say there is NO formula for a successful marriage even if the love is diminishing @ a rapid speed..." you stick with it regardless of d circumstance"....I`m quite certain dt if you approach d likes of olu & Joke Jacobs...they will have 1 or 2 ups & downs to narrate...If both 9ice & Toni are really and truely God fearing & very considerate, they will most certainly do the right thing....
Finally i would love them to know dt
1) Gbo Gbo aso ko la`n sa s`orun (i.e Do not expose ur relationship).
2)For two different people to come 2gether to become one and actually know eachother..You need 10yrs ie odun mewa gbako gbako.
3)Nomatterwhat always communicate with oneanother
4)No condition is ever permanent...

It's a shame, too bad, i hope Nigerian artist are not trying to adopt the AMERICAN MARRIAGE STYLE. Please, you exchanged your vows, no kind of trouble should make you break up. Think about you son, no child should be raised like this.
