As MTV Base Lounge comes to a final halt, Iconic Nigerian pop star 2face Idibia will thrill fans at the South African launch for his new album “The Unstoppable International edition” on Friday, July 9, 2010.
An initiative of MTV Networks Africa, the MTV base Lounge kicked off on June 10, 2010. The parties have been rocking Johannesburg, between Wednesdays to Friday nights, and set to come to a finish on July 11, 2010. Performing alongside 2face will be Afro hip-hoppers Jozi and DJs
C-Live, Schluda, Master M, Sphectacula and Naves.
Nigerian rappers Sasha, Eldee and Naeto C were initial guests at the lounge also on June 14, 2010.
Naeto C, the first Nigerian rapper to ever win in the ‘Best New comer’ at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2008 has gone on to prove himself as an act to court. His label mate Sasha is presently working on her second studio album ‘Sasha Speaks’
2face will perform numbers from his fourth solo album during Base Nights at Latinova on Friday May 9, 2010 as MTV base wraps up its smash hit series of MTV base Lounge events.
This is not the first time 2face is rolling with MTV base. When the channel launched in 2005, the first ever music video aired was Idibia’s African Queen. He later went on to headline the MTV base launch parties that visited Lagos, Johannesburg, Accra and Nairobi in the same year.
Idibia’s music videos including “True Love”, have rarely been off the MTV playlist ever since.
In 2005, 2Face became the first African artist to win the Best African Act category at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Lisbon, Portugal, and in 2009, he took home the trophy for Best R&B Artist at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Nairobi, Kenya.
