Two new videos from Tic Tac of Ghana

Ghana's Finest: BECCA to release 'Naked I am.'

From out of Ghana comes the beautiful, multiple award winning singer-songwriter, Becca. In the course of her career, which she started in 2007, she has made giant strides as a Ghanian singer. ELINEE DROPS 'TROUBLE'

Ghanaian born singer/rapper and songwriter Robert Mawuli Awudey aka Elinee, has enjoyed a stint in Ghana as a singer, rapper and songwriter, with varying talent hunt trophies and awards. He emerged winner of Mega-Rap King competition in Upper Volta Region where he hails from in Ghana in 2001.

Formally known as Osinifour, with the group Ankonam rebels, he came 3rd in Nescafe African Revolution in 2005; same year the group
disbanded and he came to Nigeria to pursue his solo dreams.

Ever since coming to the entertainment capital of the world Lagos, he’s been working hard with a lot of producers and artist just to get his perfect blend of Hip-Life music, which is his natural genre. Elinee has worked with the likes of Abel Dahvey, David Mel, Terry G, Wazumbi and Samklef just to mention a few.

In 2007, he dropped a single titled “Pooze” which was well received by the Nigerian audience and got massive air play, until it was later withdrawn due to vulgar lyrics. However, this did not stop the hard working Elinee, who has been aiming for greater heights, as he just got signed onto C9 Entertainment.

His new wave making single titled “Trouble” off his forth coming debut studio album, features Rico Slim and is produced by rave of the moment and hit making producer, Samklef. The yet-to-be-titled album features artists like Emmsong, Vector, Rico Slim, Tinny, Asase Aban, Ochman

MTN PROJECT FAME WITHDRAWS CHRISTIAN FROM ACADEMY

MTN Project Fame West Africa Academy has announced the withdrawal of Christian Owusu from the competition on health grounds.

According to the producers of the popular musical reality show, Christian, a contender for the ultimate prize, was examined by the Academy's medical team and was advised to have a six-week rest, hence his withdrawal from the show. On Sunday September 5, he bumped into another contestant while rehearsing for the weekend performance, he became dizzy and lost his sight temporarily after which he was rushed to the hospital where he fully regained his sight.

According to Head of the Medical team for the Academy Dr Wale Adeboje “Christian has been diagnosed not to be fully fit for the rest of the show, although he is now in good health, we have recommended that he keeps away from all forms of rigorous activities for the next six weeks so that he can adequately recuperate”

‘This is a sad development’ says Academy Principal Joke Silva. ‘Because Christian was one of the few animated performers who gave his all into learning the music craft. He was determined to go all the way. But we believe the most important thing right now is for him to get proper treatment’.

Following the development, Managing Director, Ultima Studios Limited, Mr Femi Ayeni states “Christian is an excellent performer, It is unfortunate he had to leave. We strongly believe that it is not only the responsible thing to do, but it is in his best interest to take a well deserved rest as advised by the medical team”

With Christian's withdrawal, the show now has six contestants following the eviction of Adebola from the academy during last Saturday’s programme.Christian left Lagos for Ghana on Friday September 10, and is already back with his family. It is expected that he’ll get further treatment with the full support of the Academy.

Becca to perform @ 2010 World Cup Concert

This year's world cup is undoubtedly big as it would afford Africa a chance to show its rich culture, crafts, music, food & more in Johannesburg, South Africa. Becca's been chosen to perform along with other African artists at a concert that will be held this Saturday (June 12).

Over the weekend, Hi Newspaper caught up with Becca and her band during their rehearsal session at the EKB Records studio and she had this to say, “It has always been my personal policy to put up my best no matter where I perform, be it an outdooring or a friend's party because you may not know who is watching. I thank God for this opportunity and like the Black Stars, I promise to be a good ambassador of Ghana in S.A.”

Samini Wins ‘Best African Performer’ In New York

Ghana’s afro-reggae singer, Emmanuel Andrew Samini popularly known as Batman Samini has added this year’s International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) ‘Best African Entertainer’ award to his awards list.

The star-studded yearly event took place on May 2, 2010 in the York College Performing Arts Center in Queens, New York. Established in 1982 by Martin’s International and Associates, the mission of the IRAWMA is to acknowledge and honor reggae and world music artists including songwriters, performers, promoters and musicians.

The impetus behind the International Reggae & World Music Awards is its commitment to promoting greater participation and acceptance of Reggae, Caribbean and World Music internationally.

The 2009 MTV’s Best African Performer was nominated in the Best African Entertainer category in this year’s edition of the IRWMA. Batman Samini contested with 2Face Idibia (Nigeria), D’banj (Nigeria), Amadou and Mariam (Mali) and Femi Kuti (Nigeria).

In addition to the numerous awards won at the Ghana Music Awards, Samini has also grabbed international awards like; The Best African Act (2006 MOBO Awards), Best Performer (2009 MTV Africa Music Awards) and several others.

Most notable at the IRAWMA was the top nominee Queen Ifrica who won four awards. Multi-platinum recording artist Wyclef Jean and civil rights activist Rev Al Sharpton received the Marcus Garvey Humanitarian Award.

The 29th Annual International Reggae and World Music Awards was dedicated to “Health Awareness” and “people of Haiti”. Stars like Julian Marley, Gramps Morgan, Awilo Longomba, Tarrus Riley and New Kingston Band “mashed up” the stage. While Alison Hinds, Queen Ifrica, Barbee and Winsome Benjamin commanded the stage with feminine swagger and grace.

Morris D'Voice ft Okyeame Kwame - Valentine

Morris D’Voice formally known as Morris Baby Face, the winner of the Ghana Music Awards 2005 Best Sound Engineer for Obour’s multi award winning track “Konkontiba” released the video of his hot single ‘Valentine’ on Feb 10th. The video was aired on all the television stations in Ghana until 14th of February.

This single ‘Valentine’ is from his yet to be released ‘Home & Away’ album . Multiple awards winner at the 2009 Ghana Music Awards, Okyeame ‘Rap Doctor’ Kwame is featured prominently in the song. His brilliant and thought provoking rap added spices to the song.

The video was shot and directed by Abraham Ohene Djan of OM Studios at two venues in Accra, Dansoman near the SSNIT flats and Reggie Rockstone’s Office behind Police Headquarters with Miss Liela Yenma Liman, a finalist in the 2009 Miss Maliaka Ghana contest as the lead character.

The idea of the video is simple but interesting. It depicts Morris, rich, successful and overly hardworking musician staying overnight at the studio working on his latest project. Ghana: Sanahene to break music boundaries

While the past 12 months were all about Sarkodie, Da Bradez, 4x4, Richie, Okyeame Kwame, VIP and R2Bees, 2010 is shaping up to be the year of good music from a new artiste called Sanahene.

Understandably, the young musician who is an old student of Juaben Secondary School recalls his school days to Ghana Music.com. "My school mates chose to call me Pastor Loving Cee because of how I performed on stage which earned me the entertainment prefect in 2003", he said.

His songwriting skills are a big plus to him since he started doing music at the tender age of 14 years and has already experienced feats that many veterans in the game aspire to.

As an artist, Sanahene feels that he has a responsibility to set a good example to people his age through his 12 track album. He has also beefed his album up with artistes such as K. K. Fosu, Morris Babyface, Stone of Bradez fame and Shatta Rako.

His song, “Emmaa No” featuring K. K. Fosu brings to fore Sanahene’s commitment as a performer and the brand of music that sets him apart. It is a wonderful fusion of hiplife and contemporary highlife with unbridled energy and raw enthusiasm. The single, "Emmaa No" is receiving enthusiastic response from listeners especially in Kumasi.

Eazzy out with another single, Wengeze.

Just when music fans and almost every other city head banger was getting into the 'Bo Wonsem Mame' groove, the tom boy-like and fair complexioned lady with the able backing of Producer Richie, under the Lynx Entertainment label, is out with yet another club banger.

Titled 'Wengeze', the song has already found a place in the playlist of disc jockeys and a hot favourite of the youth, most of whom fall for the very funny lines Eazzy introduces in the song which they are familiar with. Words like 'Shupero' and 'Pore apeshu' taken from mid 90's Shaba Ranks hits and a personal favourite of many back then, was repeated many times in the three hook track.

On 'Wengeze', Eazzy deviates from crunk music, a genre her label, Lynx are accustomed to and experiments with metal music, a sub-genre of rock music made famous by the likes of Judas Priest and Rob Dickinson in the mid 80's with roots in blues and characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, overall loudness and rock sensibility with emphasis on speed. Heavy metal lyrics and recital styles are generally associated with manliness and machismo, one that Eazzy is made of.

To make her latest LP more adored by her loyal fans, Eazzy is embarking on a nationwide tour of some of the major night clubs and public places in the country.

Samini nominated for IRWM awards in New York

In the wake of his controversial marriage to two different Ghanaian ladies (Christy and Mercy) based in Canada and UK respectively, Ghanaian Afro Reggae Super Star Samini has managed to grab a nomination as the only artiste from Ghana for an International award in New York.

The multiple Ghana Music Awards winner has been nominated in the Best African Entertainer category in this year’s edition of the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRWMA).

Samini was nominated alongside D’banj (Nigeria), Femi Kuti (Nigeria), Amadou and Mariam (Mali) and 2Face Idibia (Nigeria). Alpha Blondy won last year’s award as the Best African Entertainer.

Speaking to peacefmonline.com exclusively, from his current UK base, Samini said his manger Anthony Pun Daning called him from Ghana on Sunday morning, to inform him that he had been nominated. Asked how he feels about his nomination, Samini said “I feel very great. It feels good to realize that the world actually recognizes what I do and wants to reward me for my hard work.

I am also glad because International awards like this one, help me to improve on my subsequent albums to be able to meet the world music market. He added that he is proud to be nominated for an award which has awarded some of the greatest entertainers in the world. Samini said, he stands a very good chance of winning the award over his other African colleagues in the same category.

This was when he was asked what he thought his chances were. “I believe I can win this award but not without the support of my fans in Ghana and all over the world. I hope my fans will take me there, like they always do. This is for me and them and for the whole of Ghana. I will always fly the flag of Ghana high everywhere I go”, he stated.

Eazzy's 'Bo Wonsem Mame', released on Friday 13th Nov, 2009, gained nationwide reviews after intense banging in the
clubs and at some of the nation's cities hot spots for some time. Even then, she was barely known, at least in showbiz circles.
Bo wonsem ma me- her debut single is nothing short of nice even though it lacks originality. When you imitate someone else, try adding a dash of yourself to it to make it unique (too beyonce-ish).

With that said, BECCA remains the best Ghanaian female artist as far as I am concerned.
