Popular Nigerian Singer, Goldie Harvey, Reported Dead!

It came to us as a shock that the popular Nigerian Singer, Goldie Harvey has been reported dead. According to the popular blogger, Linda Ikeji’s website, she got a call from her best friend and Denrele Edun confirmed her passing, saying he died in her arms.

We don't know if this is really confirmed, but celebrities like Eva Alordiah, M.I Abaga and Don Jazzy also tweeted about Goldie's death.

We also don't know if it was her manager, but a tweet was sent from Goldie's twitter account, and it reads thus - "It is with heavy heart that I have to inform you all that Goldie passed this night shortly after arriving Lagos from LA. May her soul rest in the eternal peace of the Lord."

We don't know how true this is. but if it really is true, this is a very sad day for all of us, and we pray that her soul will rest in perfect peace. Life is really short, and we should all appreciate every moment we spend on earth because we don't know how long we have left. R.I.P Goldie.

GOLDIE ENGAGES STUDENTS ON AN INTERACTIVE PLATFORM

As part of her key duties as UN ambassador recording artiste Susan Harvey widely known as Goldie took out time on the 14th of November to join other ambassadors in visiting several secondary schools in Lagos.

The schools include Diadem College and CMS Grammar school, Ifako Gbagada. Goldie did not only entertained the pupils but took out time to share her experiences and identify their teen stages. After sharing a humbling story of losing her beloved mother as a child, and having to work to support herself as an undergraduate, Goldie told the students to follow hard after their dreams and not rely totally on parental support. She also took a brief moment to thrill the students to some of her hit tracks like "jawo jawo".

The highly cerebral songstress who is presently in south Africa shooting her latest singles videos ("Miliki", "Give it to Me" and "Skibobo") is a firm believer in building and encouraging both the intellectual and creative aspects of the African child for a better continent.

Recording artiste Susan Harvey widely known as Goldie has embarked on a new music project titled the Africa Invasion Album. The 12track Album will feature top artistes from 12 different countries in Africa.

The Pop Diva is presently putting finishing touches to a compilation of tracks that will include 3 hit singles from the Africa Invasion Album tagged the Naughty Singles.

The Naughty Singles include performances with two Channel O award nominees; Uganda's Navio in a track titled "Miliki", Tanzania's Hip-hop sensation, A.Y in Skibobo and J Martins from Nigeria in a track titled "Give it to me"

The UN Ambassador will be on a trip to South Africa this November to shoot videos for the 3 singles, After which She will be making campaign tours with each Artiste in their various home lands. Maybe it’s the world at large…. but growing up, having that sort of mindset, I said to myself, ok, I want women the world over, Not just in Nigeria and Africa, to know that Yes it is hard, but you can survive in your immediate environment, if you see other people that have faced these challenges and have been able to rise above them.

Real Name: Susan Harvey

Origin: Ekiti

Brief History: Goldie, Nigeria’s own pop diva, clearly states what she’s up to with her music and her choice of videos; go straight to the top. An article on a local lifestyle website describes her as daring the Nigerian entertainment industry with an unusual persona. It’s hard to imagine that in her early school days, Goldie was a tomboy. “I used to get into regular fights with boys,” she says.

The Lagos born Ekiti artiste attended primary and secondary school at the Green springs Montessori school, Anthony village, and Saint John’s college Palm Grove respectively. A BA honours degree in Business Management from the university of Sunderland, UK, props her business sense, which she combines with a crisp sense of style to power her music career.

In 2007, Goldie launched a limited edition CD, Spin Me, and followed up with a series of high powered videos, which, over the next couple of months, got heavy rotation o local TV and on the high profile MTV Base. She’s currently working on an album she hopes to release in the first quarter of 2009.

In addition to an education foundation for underprivileged children, which she hopes to launch very soon, Goldie is also putting together a documentary on challenges facing the Nigerian woman.
