Olaitan Olaonipekun aka Da Grin was born on October 25, 1984 and died on Thursday April 22, 2010 from injuries sustained in an auto crash.
The accident took place in front of Alakara Police Station in Mushin, Lagos at about 3am. He was said to be returning home from a visit to his father's house when the accident occurred.
The accident was said to have been caused by a cement delivery truck that had a head-on collision with Dagrin’s vehicle. He was said to have sustained injuries, especially in the chest, jaws and head. The crash left him unconscious and he hung between life and death before he was rescued by policemen on patrol. He was later rushed to the hospital and died after being in a coma for 8 days.
A candle light procession was held yesterday and it commenced from Grin's former house to the National Stadium. The 26 year old was a prolific rapper/song writer whose star got dimmed too soon. The candle light featured the true lovers of Da Grin including YQ, Iyke Harlison, Sunday Are of Mohits, w4 and many others. At the end of the procession, the crowd formed DA GRIN with candles.
Da Grin was buried this noon @ Atan Cemetary (Ebony Private Vault) Yaba.
