Nigeria will be taking on South Africa as Africa’s finest musicians make splendid entry into South Africa for the second week of MTV base Lounge parties. In South Africa to support the national team is Trybe record’s head honcho eLDee, who will be going up
against South African artistes.
To compliment the Youth Day in South Africa, eLDee will be rocking the mic with South Africa’s TK Zee, DJ Black Coffee, DJ Switch, DJ Biz, DJ Vigi and VJ FIX. Eldee, head of Trybe records has over the years nurtured struggling acts, and he has carved a niche for himself in the Nigerian music sector. He has served as motivation to some, as well as a source of inspiration to others
An initative of MTV Networks Africa, the MTV base Lounge kicked off on June 10, 2010. The parties will be rocking Johannesburg, between Wednesdays to Friday night until July 11, 2010
The week’s “Live Lounge” (Thursday 17 June) will be the hottest night of the week, combining South African Afrobeats from UJU plus the exciting electro hip-hop fusion of Futuresound. The night will be rounded out by DJs Milkshake, Fanatic and Master M.
Nigerian rappers Sasha and Naeto C also visited the MTV lounge on June 14, 2010. Naeto C, the first Nigerian rapper to ever win in the ‘Best New comer’ at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2008 has gone on to prove himself as an act to court. His label mate Sasha is presently working on her second studio album ‘Sasha Speaks’. On Friday June, 18 2010, Slikour will be at the helm for the next edition of base Nights – the club night will feature a live performance from triple award winner Big Nuz whilst DJs Black Coffee, SPHEtacular, Zan D and Hudson hold it down on the ones and twos.
Slikour is one of the founding members of South Africa’s biggest Hip Hop group ‘Skwatta Kamp’. In 2005 Slikour released his first solo body of work “The Ventilation Mixtape Vol.1.
