International Celebs storm Muson for Sax Appeal

Shell Hall, Muson Centre is the place to be this Saturday!

Sax Appeal, a concept of Foremost Nigerian Saxophonist Mike Aremu which is geared towards the Rebirth and Promotion of Live Musical Performances in Nigeria as well as creating a platform for interaction between corporate Nigerian and the entertainment industry, under an Entertainment Friendly Environment has entered the second year in grand style.

Since debuting in 2009, the high octane event has become one to watch out for amongst music enthusiasts, critics and fans

And just when we it looked like it was just a flash in the pan, Mike Aremu and his team at Mike Aremu Vision and Concept revealed plans to host fans and Music lovers to the second edition- showing that Sax appeal has now become an annual event.

Scheduled for Saturday, July 24, 2010, this year’s edition of Sax Appeal will feature highly rated acts like UK based double MOBO Award winner Yolanda Brown, gifted singer Tosin Martins Talented singer and guitarist Bez and South Africa based guitarist Kunle Ayo. With a vast experience travelling and performing in different continents of the World, Mike Aremu will join these talents from different countries on stage to deliver what he refers to as “an unadulterated world class musical performance”.

“It’s going to be a weekend to remember” Aremu said earlier this week. The all- star Sax Appeal performers arrived at different times during the week, promising to give the guests “More than money worth.

Tosin Martins has been around for a while, and is usually applauded by critics and fans for delivering one of the best love songs in Nigeria- Olo Mi in 2006. Presently signed on Storm Records, Mr. Martins will join Kunle Ayo, an OAP and Jazz Guitarist who is known around this part of the world as a co- host on Africa Awake, a popular TV show on Africa Magic.

Kunle Ayo, also the founder of Kcool production is not the only guitarist on the bill, Bez, a fresh talented guitarist who is gradually winning real lovers of music over will also hit the stage
and do Nigeria proud.

Jamaican born Yolanda, one of the world’s few female Saxophonists will be on stage to thrill fans alongside her South African colleague Judith Sephuma. Fresh from a union between herself and her long time companion and Manager Tokunbo, Yolanda Brown will render songs from
her stacks of songs.

Sephuma on the other hand, a Jazz vocalist based in South Africa is the second female expected to perform at Sax Appeal, With more than 15 years in the game, Judith Sephuma has three albums to her name.

One of Nigeria’s foremost Saxophone players, Mike Aremu made his first public appearance in the Nigerian Music scene in 1999 (even though he started off his musical career at age 8). With a record deal from Kennis Music, Aremu went on to release two chart -topping albums
titled – “Dance” (1999) and “No shaking”(2002).

His third body of work “Unveiled” was released in 2005 under the Ojez imprint. He has since then gone on to firmly establish himself on the international music scene as one of Africa’s most promising artiste-performers.

Sax Appeal will hold at the Shell Hall, Muson Center on Saturday July 24, 2010. The event is supported by Smooth FM, The Beat, NET, Hip TV, BHM Group and Nigezie
